As previously mentioned but I will add a couple of modern indie game design recommendations- Session Zero and setting expectations. Whatever you do, at the start of a one-off or a campaign - or whenever a new player is introduced or if you just get forgetful - set expectations so that everyone knows what kind of game everyone expects, so they will play to the correct tropes and not be disappointed that the game progresses the way everyone intends it to. The easiest way I've seen this implemented is with CATS - Concept, Aim, Tone and Subject matter. This does include canon when running games in franchise IPs (Intellectual Properties). bit.ly/RPG-CATS-cs-3x5

Do you mind if I added to the Matrix website to make it a more searchable content? It's got some handy tagging things it can use.

It's been a few years (10 apparently) - was off the internet for a while. My webhoster was mandating all my sites be upgraded to using the latest version of PHP which broke the Drupal instance I was using for the Matrix website. So I've replaced it with my standard favourite - a dokuwiki website. Currently it only has two pages - the random sentient species generator and the random planet generator. They're not pretty - just the same code as last time, but at least they're now accessible again. www.matrix.curufea.com/doku.php?id=generators

Just logged in after a few years - I'm actually thinking of making a PbtA (Powered by the Apocalypse) game for Faction Paradox - Moves, Playbooks and fiction first gaming seems to be a better fit than skills and attributes.

Apparently not. I just signed out of my account and was still able to edit the document. I've added a few bits and pieces, and also taken the liberty of doing a little formatting. Hope you don't mind. Not at all - especially as you've written some scenarios and I've not

I'm guessing I'd need a Google account to be able to contribute? Apparently not. I just signed out of my account and was still able to edit the document.

I'll create a shareable Google Spreadsheet - I've seen similar done for other RPGs - that way folk can add any they come across.

Had anyone catalogued the available scenarios and broken them down into time periods, locations and aliens involved?

Update on this, I've added a morph suit and some bones - it's getting near completion for this stage. Next stage will be paper mache and fibreglass.
I'll post pictures when the latest images are made available from this weekends LARP event.

Theoretically the nanotech does not have to create matter at an elemental level (like a Star Trek replicator does) for the dead Cybermen creation - all the material that made up the corpse would have decomposed into the surrounding area. It's just a matter of putting it back together again and recombining organic molecules - based on whatever scanning technology Missy was using to capture a mind of a human (or mostly human in the case of the robot in Deep Breath) at the moment of death.
On a side note - the Celestis (formerly the CIA) were known to recruit agents this way as well, capture at the moment of death.

It was great - but I agree with two of the problems found by the presenters on the Verity podcast - The Boneless is a naf name for the badguys, and there's no reason why there couldn't have been females in the story other than Clara - women also commit crimes and do community service (just look at Misfits)

Indeed. This may not be a coincidence. This may be a hint of just what sort of technology makes "heaven" possible. Exactly. I found the parallel quite striking; grabbing people who were supposed to die is a classic recruitment method for time travel fiction, right back to Leiber's The Big Time.So I wonder what and why Missy is recruiting? Maybe she's just the introduction liaison officer for The City of the Saved?

I was implying they could be different or changed timelines There's certainly enough continuity problems through the entire series to justify multiple timelines for many of the stories.

We are of course assuming that all stories involving Mondas occur on the same timeline...

Anyone know of other scifi ads or posters that could be used? I'm thinking they'd be good on terrain for miniauture use.

Did you want traits from Pulp Fantastic? Mostly Psychic and Base traits.

Heh - Tucker Newman. Although not an option to buy yet (not that I've been buying any minis lately anyway, but still)

I should point out - there was a disturbing lack of any regeneration whatsoever in the 50th Anniversary Special. It should have been happening all over the place, or at least with some of the guards. Unless the only Time Lords seen were the ones around the map table.

Hands and arms didn't work out so it's back to the drawing board for them.
Breastplate and spine impressed folk though :-)

That's a good idea - I've often thought it'd be good to have an archive of historic broadcasts (or futuristic ones if you can get them) - to act as backgrounds for settings. For that reason, I've been keen to isolate the advertisements in the Judge Dredd audio dramas from Big Finiah, and any other advertising in scifi shows I can find. e.g. - www.denofgeek.com/movies/13880/top-25-fictional-ads-in-sci-fi-movies

BMX/Motorcross armour arrived - bit small in places and a bit flimsier than I like, but with some modification it should be able to have a ribcage mounted on it. I've been convinced by a work coleague that the bone plates I was making would be better as a spine, and have just a plain white upper arm. Also, these arrived from ebay - I'll be putting the bones on my existing high-grip gloves (they come mounted on some nylon gloves)

Skull casts done - the second one I used 3 light layers and it dried the same day. I'll not work on how to mount them so they're rounded pauldrons until the BMX armour arrives and I can see how to fit the foam parts (don't want to prematurely shape them). In other news - the helmet arrived yesterday from Indonesia, fits really well, and is better quality than expected. I will need to shave the nose cavity a bit as it rubs - and I'll have to wear a balaclava underneath. The helmet is from here- motorcycle-retro-helmets.com/The lasercut logos (for my LARP armour) arrived today - used an online australian service. onlinelasercutting.com.au/ This is the largest one, I've got several sizes (all cut from the same piece of white acrylic) The plastic is paper covered currently.

Update on skull cast - sadly I used too much latex and it's taking far too long to dry, maybe in a few more days I can show a pic. However, I've made some roundels to be mounted in the armour by using latex on the Burn in Designs TARDIS dice tower I've got - the tray for the dice has a nicely sized New Who "Symbol of the Time Lords" - which is sometimes thought of as the new Seal of Rassilon. Also, I've found some very cheap motorcross/BMX bike armour on eBay - seems the factories that make all the gear for American distribution, are also selling the stuff without labels and packaging for retail prices! So - chest/arms for less than $40 and legs for less than $30. If you'd ever gone shopping for any kind of armour, you'd realise what a huge saving that is. The bike impact armour looks techno - which is a really good base for Faction armour and will make the mounting of the foam parts far easier.
