Do you use music and sound effects in your games? If so you may want to get some official Doctor Who sound effects and audio for the DWAITAS RPG and, provided you do not distribute them and only use them personally on the same PC they are all perfectly legal.Download the Doctor Who Adventure games from the BBC site. Install them. Navigate here: Program Files\Doctor Who - The Adventure Games\Data\Common\Audio Program Files\Doctor Who - The Adventure Games\Data\Episode_1\Audio\ Program Files\Doctor Who - The Adventure Games\Data\Episode_2\Audio There are lots of audio files here which include the TARDIS, Daleks, Cybermen, some great music perfect for sessions, ambient loops and special effects. The files are all .ogg format: www.vorbis.com/You may have an audio program which can play and convert these. If not check out Oggdrop: rarewares.poskolio.com/oggdropXPdV1.9.0-1.3.1-generic.zipDouble click on the oggdropXPd. A box will appear. Rick click on it and select Decode Options. You have a choice of decoding the file to a 16-bit wav which can then be played on media player. Simply copy the ogg files you need to another folder then drag the .ogg file onto the oggdropXPd to convert to a 16-bit wav file. Please note, we do not provide support on this forum for converting audio and other relevant tasks and remember, this remains legal as long as you do not redistribute these files and only use them personally on the same PC you installed the games to.If anyone knows of any easier solutions to convert or play the files, please feel free to post here but the above methods work fine.

Blimey! That brings back memories! I had the cassette version of this when it came out in the late seventies. I can't see a track listing in Amazon, but in case you don't already know, it's got various sound effects mainly from the early Tom Baker years, with a few earlier ones. It's a mixture of spot effects (various laser blasts and so on) and background noises (TARDIS hum, Dalek control room, etc). I think it would be very useful. One minor thing to note is that the track listing on the sleeve notes - unless it's been amended - sometimes uses working titles for some of the stories, e.g. The Enemy Within instead of The Invisible Enemy. But it's a minor quibble.

I created a bunch of text-to-speech reports for my convention game - I'll make those available soon. They went down quite well for the playtest last night.

No - but it looks fantastic! I've only used a custom soundboard on my phone so far as it's not for home use and needs to be very portable. But when I do an actual FTF non-convention campaign - a laptop has proved useful in other scifi games I've run, and this program looks like something I've been wanting for quite a while for gaming. Thanks for the headsup on that! Also good to see Harnmaster there, one of my favourite fantasy settings/rpgs

Free? Check! Professional? Looks like it! Useful? Yes! Linux? Sadly no* * I am aware of Wine, but haven't tried this program with it.

This thing is AWESOME!!! Up until now I've had to bog my puter down by running several different media player programs at the same time just to get music and one sound effect!

Anybody know of a good bit of software for doing realtime Dalek voices? I can fiddle around with pre-recorded dialogue in Audacity and stuff, but it would be great to be able to talk to my players using monster voices. -- edit: and sorry! I've only just realised that this is a really old thread! I'd still like to know, though

There was a website that existed at one point called the Doctor Ruth soundwave archive and had just about every sound ranging from Daleks, Cyber Men and everything else in between. It also had a lot of TARDIS-based sound effects taking off and landing cloister bell ringing really messed up sounds that sounded like something going horribly wrong with the TARDIS. And it also had music from the first doctor or the way up to the eighth Doctor. Sadly though a few years before the new RPG came out the website shut down. Though I do have the sounds if anyone is interested private message me with your email and I will send them to you if you want specific ones tell me which ones you want.

There's another site that has some good audio clips that I haven't seen mentioned here www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/sounds/index2006.shtmlIt's mostly random lines from the show, but there're also Daleks, Cybermen, Tardis, and Sonic sound effects. (And also some K-9) EDIT: Also, there's more on another page not linked to on the first. More random lines, a bit of Judoon, more Dalek, and some Auton gun effects. www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/sounds/index.shtml

I've used a couple of bits from the BBC radio archives for background. For example a scenario I'm writing is set in June 1951 (heavily derived from a mystery novel) and uses a recording of a radio news item about the disappearance of Burgess and Maclean from the BBC Archive here as background. It's not relevant to the plot, just 'local colour'.

That's a good idea - I've often thought it'd be good to have an archive of historic broadcasts (or futuristic ones if you can get them) - to act as backgrounds for settings. For that reason, I've been keen to isolate the advertisements in the Judge Dredd audio dramas from Big Finiah, and any other advertising in scifi shows I can find. e.g. - www.denofgeek.com/movies/13880/top-25-fictional-ads-in-sci-fi-movies

The British Pathé newsreel collection is up on YouTube, useful for twentieth century historical background.

Has anyone used Tabletop Audio ( tabletopaudio.com ) it's not bad I find, it plays well on my tablet . There's a sound board where u can chose and save u r own soundboard, and there are pre made sound boards, quite a few.
