If I manage to get my players in for a Doctor Who game definitely need to bring in the Silurians and their pet dinosaurs.
As far as the cybermen are concerned, I've had this idea in my head that the alternate Earth is somehow Mondas... Now need a little dimensional and temporal travel to make that work but...

They didn't really time travel that often though. Maybe twice. It's the two 'breeds' of cyberman that confuses things, the Mondasian and the Telosian. There was a great book once, written by the guy who played all of the later Cyber-Leaders I think. It had a big "family tree" and everything, it was wicked. Plus there's some continuity problems with the Doctor going back to earlier time periods but discovering later mark versions of Cybermen because the SFX costumes improved with time.

I love that book (Cybermen, by David Banks). Fantastic artwork from Andrew Skilleter and a decent attempt (for the time) at retconning Cyber history by breaking them into factions. Here's the chart you were thinking of (someone put it on their DW conversion for V&V) paratime.ca/v_and_v/pics/cyber_history01.jpg

Heh, you're always going to get that with a series that runs as long as Who did back then They didn't really time travel that often though. Maybe twice. I might have to see if I can get myself a copy one of these days, if they still exist out there somewhere. I also need an oldWho copy of the Programme Guide to go with my Universal Databank so I can check out all the old episodes. I don't remember them all, unfortunately!

That's great stuff on your site, Tim! It'll be great to have you around. I think someone was asking about different TARDIS Console layouts over the decades, and you have some nice diagrams of that was well. There's a number of things in that Cybermen book that are worthy fluff and inspiration. The Pictoral Chronology is very cool as are the line drawings, but I worry that my copy's spine wouldn't survive scanning. I think I'll pick up a used copy to have some fun with (I'm a big fan of the Cybermen, but especially the Tenth Planet and Moonbase versions). Brilliant! That's the one! I might have to see if I can get myself a copy one of these days, if they still exist out there somewhere. I also need an oldWho copy of the Programme Guide to go with my Universal Databank so I can check out all the old episodes. I don't remember them all, unfortunately! If I can make a suggestion, Doctor Who: The Television Companion by David J. Howe and Stephen James Walker is a much better resource for the classic series and may be somewhat easier and cheaper to obtain. There's a '98 BBC Books version and an updated version from Telos. Each story has some background analysis (like what was in the wondrful Handbook series) that the L'officier books don't have.

Which version would you say is the better one?

I'd expect the Telos book is better, more up to date and (I think) nearly twice as many pages. But I only have the '98 version (which seems to be easier to obtain and less expensive), and I'm not sure how the content differs.

I was amused to see that both are on Amazon UK - the '98 edition at about £10 and the Telos version at... £50.

The enemies of my enemy races appeal to me:
The Movellians, though they need a serious rethink and update. Maybe they allied with the G&G Earth Empire and abandoned their dreams of conquest or just decided to pursue other methods of conquest.
The shape-shifting Rutans have such much potential, pretty much off the shelf. Especially in the modern time with so much electicity about.
And the Mandragora should be about ready for their next bid for an invasion of Earth.

Hullo, Rel Fexive, I was amused to see that both are on Amazon UK - the '98 edition at about £10 and the Telos version at... £50. To be honest, I saw those prices and wasn't amused. That said, I ordered a second-hand copy from a reseller on Amazon U.S. Hopefully in decent condition. Still, would have liked the Telos version, but settling for the previous version.

Plans plans plans... Like most, I'd of course love to use Zygons, Sea Devils, Yeti and Ice Warriors, in addition to monsters seen in the new series (you know, cuz my players know them best). That said, what DO I have in my tentative 1st season? Not much yet. Maybe some Dalek connection, but not Daleks per se. Time Lords in some way, probably. But since I haven't really built the season much yet, let's say I have more than enough choices.
Aliens I would like to use some day are: *Chelonians (from the New Adventures) - I thought those were the turtles in the K-9 pilot, which just made me want to see them in the flesh *Cybermen from every era - Together in a big mess. No idea what that would be like, but it's a thought. *Robots of Death - Fun to voice. *Rutans - It's not fair that only the Sontarans get any love *Great Vampires - Could be the new big bad

Is there, or will there be a thread with game stats for monsters from the classic series?

There currently are multiple threads with game stats for multiple classic monsters. You can find them all in the write-ups section of the forum

Silurians/Sea Devils - will be in one of my first adventures. War Machines, or at least my own version of them. Classic Cybermen. Rutans - Horror of Fang Rock was always a favourite. The Bannermen - will make great ongoing villains.
I want to use some races as everyday people such as Draconians.
Of existing villains I like the idea of using Sil.

I've come up with a use for Sea Devils now. Appearing in Victorian times, wearing heavy coats, hats and scarves (or possibly oilskin coats and sou'westers) that almost conceal what they really are as they seek lost Silurian technology in London's docks.

I've decided there will be no classic monsters in my campaign ... unless the players request it, of course, since I plan on making the season design an interactive process.
Oh, and the Daleks. But they're not going to know about that one ;D

Hullo, sharez66, Is there, or will there be a thread with game stats for monsters from the classic series? Yes, there is a whole section of the forum devoted to creatures and beasties and the like from Classic Who. Many of us (myself included) have already posted stuff up there. I posted up the Ice Warriors, and folks have posted the Sea Devils, Silurians, Zarbi, Terileptils, Rutans, and a batch of others already.

Pretty please...

Hullo, Tashkal, First off, welcome to the DW: AiTaS forums and all that good stuff. Nice to see another new face here. I'm starting a skype game this weekend. My first opponents.... the Dominators. Ooh, excellent... since "The Dominators" is not available on DVD in the U.S. or Canada and I don't have a VHS tape copy of the story, does this mean that you'll post up the stats here for the rest of us?

Hullo, Tashkal, First off, welcome to the DW: AiTaS forums and all that good stuff. Nice to see another new face here. Thanks! I'd have posted in any "new faces" thread if I'd found one, but this is just as good. Given a bit of time, certainly. I'm mainly converting from the Time Lord document from a while back, but I'll see how it goes over tonight and post once I know I've got a good grasp on them. Meanwhile, I think I'm also going to have Mechanoids show up as part of a run of the "Power Off" seed from the Adventure Book.

I plan on throwing the "Earthshock"-style Cybermen into Victorian England this week, where their cybernetic experiments are responsible for the legends of Spring-Heeled Jack. He was said in some reports to have metal armor...
