Hello,
I have an idea for a scenario, where my PCs will enter in a bookshop at different times, and then get stuck all together. To gather them together and block them in the bookshop, I thought about a sort of multi-temporal paradox.
As we know, when a paradox occurs, the Reality isolates the place and the time of the paradox until it is resolved. In this case, I would like the same place being isolated at several times (when my PCs enter in it).
How do you think such a paradox is possible ? Any (evil or not) plan to create this ? (if anything isn't well explained, please ask me)

Maybe the bookshop is actually an old TARDIS, leftover from the time war and without a pilot. Maybe it's lonely and wants to meet some of the locals, or maybe it's looking for a new pilot.
The bookshop could house a time engine or other temporal disturbance device (a la "The Lodger").
Just a few ideas.

What about having an ancient alien book that has a special property to keep it in good condition. It projects a localized stasis field. The Pcs are stuck within this field while within the bookstore until they can figure out where its coming from. The neat bit here is that it's not an intentional effect-the stasis field is meant to preserve the book in perpetuity, it just has the side effect of also freezing time in that localized area. Maybe the book is reacting with some item the players are carrying around? Or maybe a temporal shift like a Weeping Angel zapping someone causes the book to mess up.

There are naturally occuring time anomalies as well - storms and eddies in the Vortex that affect the normal space dimension.
You don't need a reason to have a time anomally - but if the players ever come up with a really good idea as to why it occured, grab it and retconn it as being the reason all along (I'm quite good at pretending I planned things that way all along, rather than making it up as I go along)
You can also retconn the reason when you can think of a way to link it to something important in the plot in a later session. It gives some gravitas to whatever it is that you link it too (ie the players will be more impressed)
