Hmmm, my view is that an encounter with the Doctor trumps encounters with mere companions - but that might just be me.
In this case, Lenz/Lendler/Lander encountered the 2nd Doctor (with Ben, Polly and Jamie), then the 3rd Doctor (with the Brigadier), and finally Brewster, Polly and the Brig (but no Doctor - chronologically from Brewster's POV, he's just stolen the 5th Doctor's TARDIS). So personally, I'd go with the 3rd Doctor sourcebook. But if you left if to later, then it's the 5th Doctor volume.

Sounds like he should be in the 3rd sourcebook!

Sounds like there'll be another Time Trips ebook for the 3rd Doctor out in September (title not yet announced, but written by Joanne Harris). I'll be buying this to read on holiday, so I'll see if there's anything from it suitable for including in the sourcebook - somebody who seems to be in the know has mentioned a one-off companion called Alice.
EDIT: Apparently, it's called The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Time Traveller.

C19 also links into the Vault - but I'll just refer to that and leave dastari to deal with this one in a separate entry when he covers Scales. Incidentally, are we differentiating this Vault (operated by C19) from the UNIT Vault (from Tales from the Vault)? There's a Behind-the-Scenes note in the TARDIS Data Core that the two may be the same (the UNIT Vault being a later incarnation of the C19 one): The Vault (C19)I think you're covering the entry for the Vault now, Siskoid? I've just listened to The Worlds of Doctor Who box-set, released earlier this month by Big Finish. The third story features Captain Ruth Matheson and Warrant Officer Charlie Sato and is again set largely in the Vault. Usefully, it contains a couple of lines of dialogue which clarifies the multiple UNIT vaults: The contents of the Vault (from Tales from the Vault, Mastermind and now this story) used to be stored by Department C19 (as mentioned in my write-up for C19). That was both the forerunner of this Vault and the Black Vault under the Tower of London, and was moved in the 1990s to its present location and the Angel of the North was built on top of it - apparently Geneva said that it didn't feel right for a UNIT base to be built without a landmark!

The books are Doctor-centric rather than Companion-centric. If the Doctor DOESN'T feature, then we look at who was Companion.

I thought you were intending to write something on the UNIT Vault, and this story clarifies the issue of the multiple vaults, even though it doesn't feature the Doctor. I mentioned Sato and Matheson in passing, but again I thought you were intending to include write-ups on these two in this volume as they're listed in the opening post under Tales from the Vault, as is the Vault itself.

And in that case, "UNIT" is the Companion, which best fits the 3rd Doctor era (while specific artifacts have been tied to the companion they came in contact with, Zoe, Jo, etc.).
I'll be more than happy to include information about the Vaults from other sources though!

I know I haven't been around much, but I am willing to help out with some work on this project. I'm working on a drawing of the Praxilion to start with, since it had a nice clear description. I have a suggestion to add to the Off-Off Canon section: The Stalker of Norfolk by Rich Morris and Hillary Doda. He's the creator behind the Ten Doctors magnum opus crossover, and Stalker was one of his followup stories. It would be placed some time between The Green Death and The Time Warrior. Just to include a write up for Corporal Beverly Powell, who stands up pretty well as a Companion all things considered.

Ok, sorry for the wait between updates. We'll be seeing a lot of movement over the coming days and weeks. I've added a few Allies today, with more stuff to come soon, if not every day.

For the Blatherians from Council of War. The only description I could find was that they stripped mined planets and looked like cockroaches, so I went for big and nasty. Though it has a few extra arms than actual insects, I was going for the idea they used the larger lower set for the heavy lifting and the smaller set for fine manipulation.

I've included stats and background on the Blatherians in my write-up for the planet Kettering, as there isn't enough info on them to fill a page of their own.

Since I had earmarked the Blatherians as the first Monsters alphabetically, I really wanted them on their own so I threw in a bit of extra text and this big honking picture to fill out the space. Starts the chapter on the right foot.
Today's update is available and includes many new entries in that chapter and new pics besides.

Important new update. Several locations and gadgets, and new pics all over the place.
Is anyone planning on sending Gadgets I don't know about? Because I'd love to finish that section and not have to reopen it again.

The Mega is still at large.
Of my entries not yet included in the updated pdf, I'd use your Huxley over whatever insect pic I'll find on the Internet. The Gaderene are hard to pull out of the image that exists.
And I don't know if Dastari's entries will require pics yet.
Look at the document as it stands now. There are entries with blank space near the bottom which must be filled (Dame Emily Shaw for example). Could use spot illustration, if you're inspired. Let me know, else I'll stretch the text with adventure seeds or something.

Dame Emily's run in with the Doctor and Leela, what story did that happen in?

Dame Emily's run in with the Doctor and Leela, what story did that happen in? In The Cloisters of Terror. It's not been released yet - it's part of the next series of Fourth Doctor Adventures from Big Finish and is due out in June 2015. But I thought it was worth mentioning in Dame Emily's write-up as a sort of future-proofing!

New update. Not too much. All but one of the "Not Forgotten" entries, one new UNIT character, some pics in the Gadgets, and a tweak here and there.

With the release of two more Tales from the Vault audios starring Matheson and Sato over the past two years, it's become its own spin-off and now I'm insecure about keeping them in this book (and on the cover no less).
Thoughts?

With the release of two more Tales from the Vault audios starring Matheson and Sato over the past two years, it's become its own spin-off and now I'm insecure about keeping them in this book (and on the cover no less). Thoughts? Hmm, I see what you mean. I guess Sato and Matheson aren't really associated with the 3rd Doctor, so the connection with this sourcebook is tenuous. Personally I'd not be too sad if they were kept back for a spin-offs sourcebook further down the line, which would probably be more appropriate. But I think an entry on the Vault itself is still justified, if for no other reason than it's already cross-referenced from the Department C19 entry (and the older version of the Vault appears in The Scales of Injustice). Incidentally, you were asking last week about whether there are other gadgets to include, and this reminds me that we don't yet have the haunted army jacket from Tales From the Vault (whereas we had the 1st and 2nd Doctor's items from this story in their sourcebooks). Will that be added?

Yes, the Vault will be in based on the fact it's in a 3rd Doctor story specifically.
I AM doing the the army jacket, yes.
Okay, I think we have a common opinion here. Now to find something to replace Ruth with on the cover.

I've opted for another face from the Companion Chronicles... and balanced it with a stray tentacle. Plus removed offending pages, etc.
