Update with timeline, Adventure seeds and material from Rags and Deadly Reunion. Sorry, just noticed that Harvest of Time should be somewhere between The Daemons and The Sea Devils. Maybe after The Switching, as the security measures for holding the Master certainly seem to be stepped up by the time of Harvest.

What do you think? Have you come across such "featured" UNITeers in your readings and listenings who would benefit from such a format? I think The Face of the Enemy features Corporal Bell and Corporal (later to become Sergeant) Osgood, so I'll look out for them when I cover that one, as they didn't make it into Cubicle 7's Sourcebook.

Carol Bell definitely needs an entry then! A recurring character from the show, and she shows up in the expanded universe quite a lot too.

If they let her do more than get Mike's coffee and answer phones, a full one could be possible. Is there such a story?

I think Bell makes her biggest contribution in The Face of the Enemy, so I'll see whether there's enough material in that for a full-page entry. So far as I recall, her other appearances are fairly minimal. Osgood on the other hand makes his major non-TV appearance in The Eye of the Giant , so it would probably be better for Dastari to cover him, if he's to be included at all. (He also later comes out of retirement in the 6th Doctor novel, The Shadow in the Glass.)

A character that appeared several times might have references inside the text. For example, Carol Bell's short text might look like:
CORPORAL CAROL BELL [1st appearance in The Mind of Evil] A member of the Brigadier's personal support staff - mostly manning the phones - Corporal Bell was an initial member of UNIT. She was on good terms with Jo Grant, and had a fondness for telling dirty jokes. Once blackmailed by survivors of Inferno Earth into betraying UNIT when they kidnapped her brother and threatened to kill him unless she did as she was told (in The Face of Evil). She was eventually promoted to Sergeant (in Speed of Flight), then to Captain (in The Left-Handed Hummingbird), but left UNIT in 1979 for a business career (in Interference - Book Two). By 1989, Bell married, and had one child (in Business Unusual). A car accident later in life sadly left her with brain damage (in The Left-Handed Hummingbird).

I'm starting to work on Who Killed Kennedy and will be writing up an entry for Department C19 soon. Within the C19 write-up, I'll cover the Glasshouse (which also appears in The Scales of Injustice - hope that's OK with you, dastari?). C19 also links into the Vault - but I'll just refer to that and leave dastari to deal with this one in a separate entry when he covers Scales. Incidentally, are we differentiating this Vault (operated by C19) from the UNIT Vault (from Tales from the Vault)? There's a Behind-the-Scenes note in the TARDIS Data Core that the two may be the same (the UNIT Vault being a later incarnation of the C19 one): The Vault (C19)

We can probably do a single entry that mentions all possible appearances. Unless it's a major major piece of Scales, I can take care of it as part of my entry from Tales from the Vault.

A further thought has occurred to me (I've got to stop this thinking lark!). There's a character in one of the 4th Doctor Companion Chronicles, Lord Joshua Douglas in The Catalyst, who turns out to be a former companion of the Doctor. It's never clearly stated which incarnation he travelled with, but I've noticed that the TARDIS Data Core has narrowed it down to the 3rd Doctor: The CatalystSo, do we include Lord Joshua Douglas in the 3rd Doctor volume (as he was the 3rd's travelling companion), or do we wait for the 4th Doctor volume (as it's a 4th Doctor audio that's the only story we actually hear him in)? Just thought I'd put that out there...

We wait for 4th's book. There's no reason to change the way these are structured, and the character appears not in companion form, but at a later stage in his life, which is what will be represented.
Similarly, the real 3rd Doctor sourcebook does not stat out the older Jo Grant from Sarah Jane Adventures.

Unless anybody else has a burning desire to volunteer for any of the following, I'll cover these audios:
The Doll of Death - I'm thinking of entries for HannaH (sic) and the Retrievers (the latter including a piece on Retrocausation), both for the Monsters & Villains section. Shadow of the Past - the Mim certainly, and I'll see if there's anything else which suggests itself when I listen to this one again. The Scorchies - the Scorchies themselves, and possibly the reverse polarity polarity reverser. The Elixir of Doom - Vita Monet's entry will probably be a 2-pager as I want to include stats for each of the movie monsters.

It looks like there are four novels left without a volunteer to cover them. I've started reading Speed of Flight, so will do that one. Anybody want to step forward for any of the others?
Dancing the Code Amorality Tale The Suns of Caresh
If nobody else is interested, I'll carry on and work my way through them, so shout up!

Items to boost the Third Doctor Codex/Sourcebook AUDIO: ... The Time Vampire (Companion Chronicles) The Time Vampire is a 4th Doctor story, with the 3rd Doctor only appearing in cameo. More generally, a few of the stories you list will feature in the 3rd Doctor sourcebook (and entries for them have already been written), but I'm afraid the vast majority of this is unlikely to be covered. As I mentioned in my reply in the Extracanonical Smith thread, we're only covering a selection of short stories and comic strips in each volume, otherwise the project would be too large to cope with. Bear in mind that there are currently only three people doing the writing for these sourcebooks, and it's only in our spare time!

I love Doctor Who, and I love the idea of this project, and I suppose the temptation to try to squeeze everything in was a bit too strong. I apologize if my... over enthusiasm came off in a negative light.

It's just that we have to be realistic about what we can achieve. But thanks for the suggestions and the enthusiasm - it really is appreciated.

I'm just finalising the write-ups from the last of the novels I volunteered for, so I'm now looking at the audios again. I'll take the following two if that's OK:
The Last Post (incidentally, I now think the Apocalypse Clock should be a Villain rather than a Gadget) Council of War
I think that will then leave only the following audios as yet unclaimed, if anyone wants to take them on:
The Sentinels of the New Dawn The Three Companions Binary The Mega

OK, I can pick these up - here's what I have in mind: The Sentinels of the New Dawn - The Sentinels of the New Dawn The Three Companions - Location: Waterloo Station and World's End Junction (I'll probably include stats for Coffin-Loaders in this rather than have a separate entry for them, as I'm not sure there's enough info on them for a full entry)* Binary - The Machine (I think this will probably be for the Villains section, rather than a Gadget) The Mega - The Mega, Location: Golbasto *Incidentally, what are the plans for Gerry Lenz/Garry Lendler from The Three Companions? Leave him for the 5th Doctor sourcebook, as he's associated with 5th Doctor companion Thomas Brewster? Or include him in this volume, as he actually met the 3rd Doctor (and previously the 2nd)?

So it can be included in the 3rd Doctor book or set aside for the 5th, whichever is preferred.

Garry reappears in the 5th Doctor adventures, doesn't he? I'd keep him for once Thomas is published in whatever book. Sorry about not piping up either, I might have taken on some of those audios, but have no objection to you doing them if ypu're free and inspired. I've got plenty to finish on my side of things.
Vacation just ended and am reintegrating work, which sounds like I should have less time for the book, but actually means the opposite. Trips, heat waves and sleeping are behind me. A more productive mindset before me.

Garry reappears in the 5th Doctor adventures, doesn't he? Not really. He only appears in The Three Companions, which is split into three connected narratives. In the first, he encounters the 2nd Doctor. In the second, its the 3rd Doctor. And the third is the linking narrative and final third of the overall story, which doesn't feature any of the Doctors but stars Polly, the Brigadier and Thomas Brewster, sometime companion of the 5th and 6th Doctors. But anyway, I'll put him aside for now, unless you change your mind.

Bewster is so all over the place that while I think I've heard all his stories, including this one, I'm never too sure of the chronology.
Gary needs to be in the era belonging to the companions and/or Doctors he interacted with. If we say that's Thomas, and Thomas appears in the 5th book, then that's fine. If we see that's the Brig and Jo, then here. What call would you make based on this?
Or if you will, does it make sense for his bio to be published 2 books before Brewster's?
