I've written a DW:AITAS adventure. I got rather carried away with it and only stopped when it hit 21 pages. But I enjoyed writing it. I hope others out there enjoy reading it and playing it. The link is here: knasser.me.uk/knasser_media/content/dw/whitsun_war_k_nasser.pdf.It actually got to the point where I consider emailing to to Cubicle 7 to see if it's the sort of thing they might be interested in, but it's not really quite good enough for that and I didn't know who I ought to contact. However, if anyone from Cubicle 7 is looking for this sort of thing and interested, please send me an email and let me know - obviously this adventure is now out there and released, but I could do something much more polished if I were asked. Please leave me some feedback on this. I put a lot of time and creativity into this and it would be horrible to see it just languish ignored on a forum somewhere. Hope you like it, Khadim.

Sweet, I am going to definitely download it and check it out. It's always cool when other GM's release their scenarios.

I do my happy dance now.
I'll say it's nice writing in your own time without having to worry about page count, however.

Minor pedantic note - Sontaran with an A, not Sontaren with an E.
Good work, I particularly liked the pronunciation guide.

Nice one! I'm very tempted to have the Rutans infiltrate the town - though I note your comments on how the Sontarans would view this... I just think the Rutans have great potential. Hmm, I'll maybe have the players uncover a Rutan spy in the town (though not the ship in the mines yet), think they've defeated the menace, but then the Sontarans turn up!

Hey, it's Doctor Who - run whatever pops into your head. The point about the Sontaran (two a's this time) being able to detect the Rutan was simply that I realised whilst writing it that if the Rutan were infiltrating, it just wouldn't make sense for the Sontarans not to start attacking the humans. So I introduced that as a plot device whilst keeping the possibility that the Sontaran could be fooled if the Rutan were better equipped open for the future. Having the Rutan infiltrate the town and have that be the first part of the adventure is a great idea, though. Makes the whole thing bigger and the Sontaran arrival would be hilarious. I wont use that myself because I want my intro to be the Young Dave selling alien doo-hickeys introduction, but I like the idea - I may well use it for a second adventure. If you time it for near the end of a session, then the players will have no idea a whole second part is about to open up. Thanks for the feedback, K.

I absolutely plan to run it. Just having trouble getting my players to sit down and play a game.

I absolutely plan to run it. Just having trouble getting my players to sit down and play a game. I keep a selection of players chained up in my garage for when I have a new game prepped. I hate waiting around when I'm enthusiastic about something. Reminds me, forgot to feed them this week... BRB. K.

This is likely to be the first adventure I run for my UNIT CRASH Team players Cool. If you write up how it went, I might post another of my adventures (I have a few sitting around) This was my introductory game for the group. It ended with the (thankfully evacuated) town being blown up by a Sontaran missile whilst the PCs escaped into Space in a Sontaran scout ship. The next session began with them still in the ship, still unable to properly pilot it, and shooting past Jupiter at 0.2c.

How long did it take your players to complete the adventure [not counting char gen]? A single session? multiple sessions? If multiple sessions, how many hours do you usually play? I'm trying to get a ballpark figure so I can schedule appropriately.

How long did it take your players to complete the adventure [not counting char gen]? A single session? multiple sessions? If multiple sessions, how many hours do you usually play? I'm trying to get a ballpark figure so I can schedule appropriately. This was the introductory adventure that I ran, so I'm going to deduct character creation time. Also, because it was our first session with characters meeting each other and so forth, the set up was much longer than normal. Consequently, we played it over two sessions. Characters meeting, setting up the plot and getting them on the road to Whitsun... around an hour. Rest of first session consisted of: Arriving in Whistun, battling the Sentinal, meeting some of the locals, big meeting at the pub with the assembled townsfolk and a fair bit of role-playing there, some sneaking around. Total time: Around four hours? Second session consisted of: Locating a second entrance to the mine, meeting the Rutans and negotiating a deal with them, another big role-playing scene in the pub where the party split into two factions arguing over the best plan and burnt most of their story points making opposed negotiation rolls against each other to persuade the townsfolk to their own particular plan, a botched infiltration of the Sontaran main ship, rescuing some townsfolk, negotiating a new deal with the Sontarans and betraying the Rutans, betraying the Sontarans and killing one to steal a small spaceship which one PC then used to rescue the other characters. Finally ending with a botched Piloting roll sending the lot of them hurtling into deep space all still cramped into a single Sontaran fighter (with dead Sontaran pilot too). Time taken was actually only around five hours for all that. The game took place in my living room, four players. But I should say that I don't hang around when I'm GM'ing. Each session had a brief break for curry, during which we semi-stopped playing, but continued to discuss and plan. Hope that helps, K.

Thanks. That does help.
Its going to be interesting to see how this works with a UNIT team.

Thanks. That does help. Its going to be interesting to see how this works with a UNIT team. Depends how prepared they are. For example, the Sentinals are almost immune to standard firearms. And if they do take it down, it's easy enough to play it up as the Sontaran equivalent of a webcam. With a military team, I would probably play up the superiority (and arrogance) of the Sontaran forces. If that vessel takes off, it's got enough firepower in it to destroy the whole town without a second thought and it could be over London in a matter of minutes. If you haven't checked it out, my monsters supplement has some more Rutan and Sontaran material. Depends what you want to achieve. For example, if you think they might go in guns blazing, then you can deal with that with methods from the simple (whilst your fighting the Sentinal, two more zone in) to the machiavellian (after killing a Sontaran, a booming microphone voice from the ship announces that in response, three of the human children kept as hostages to ensure good behaviour from the townsfolk, will be executed). What do you want? Crazy humour? Edgy excitement? For me, the Whitsun War was a chance to have some fun and do my Yorkshire accent, but it can be turned in all sorts of directions.

This is where I'm headed at the end of my Sixie/Frobisher/Dora/George "season," using Whitsun War as my Series Finale (more than a month from now). I'm laying pieces in place carefully.

I really enjoyed the module. The heart of any Doctor Who story for me are complex compelling characters who rise to the challenges. From the entrepreneurial bloke to the folks trying to the punks taking a stand, the story is filled with wonderful characters for any group of pcs to interact with, making it difficult to find a simple course of action. Congrats. Garrett

Hey everyone,
New to these boards, and my friend is getting ready to run her own game for DW:AITAS, and while trolling around the internet for a few good adventures for her to run, I found this. We're making custom companions (although we're playing with the Eleventh Doctor), and this seemed like a good place to introduce them. One problem though: the link for the site isn't working. Anybody have a working linky for the Whitsun War.
