Obviously, Red Dwarf is very much a comedy whose adventures would be very different if the main characters weren’t a bunch of neurotic eccentrics.
However, I do think a lot of the episodes could make for excellent one-off monster of the week style adventures for a campaign.
The ones that immediately spring to mind are “Psirens” “Gunmen of the Apocalypse” (one of my personal favourites) “Quarantine” and of course, “Back to Reality”
Thoughts, ideas and comments are most welcome.

I actually think that and its predecessor would work really well played straight. Especially if you played up the idea of what a corrupting influence time travel can have on an individual. And let's face it, the Grassy Knoll is probably packed full of time travellers! Both benign and otherwise.

I also think you could make effective use of the Karma Drive device that was introduced in a later series. You could play it for comedy like the episode naturally does or have it serve as a means of character development and exploration.

You could probably actually do quite a serious take on the Hologram technology shown within the programme. Treat it as say a prototype of having one’s consciousness uploaded into a system. Until your PCs bump into Legion or go into the far future where hardlight technology is now possible.
I could see a particularly desperate Time Lord PC using it to say keep an otherwise deceased companion alive or a GM when he wants to bring a villain back without resurrecting them.
Although, Rimmer in the companion role would make for rather an interesting campaign in itself.

That's a fascinating idea for a Companion.
Presumably some form of 'mobile emitter' or light bee would be needed outside the TARDIS?

Presumably some form of 'mobile emitter' or light bee would be needed outside the TARDIS? More than likely. Could make for a different kind of companion introduction. While journeying through deep space, your Time Lord discovers a light bee floating in the void. Reactivating it, they are suddenly greeted by a hologram. That actually could make for a neat way to introduce Rimmer into the Whoniverse. He’s such a neurotic, selfish weasel of a man but there’s a mystery behind how he got into this current state which your Time Lord is determined to solve. With of course, there being every chance for Rimmer to develop as a character or even bump into himself pre death when you add time travel into the mix. Make for a different kind of Gadget at least.

Or go over the top and introduce "Ace" Rimmer. "Smoke me a kipper! I'll be home for breakfast!" Friendly greetings, Lupercal.
