So the BBC has announced a new multiplatform story for the show's 60th anniversary: Doom's DayDoom’s Day will kick off on Doctor Who digital channels later this year followed by products from Doctor Who Magazine, Titan Comics, Penguin Random House, East Side Games, Big Finish and BBC Audio, each telling a section of a character called Doom’s story, ending with a finale on the Doctor Who digital channels. Timescales are a little vague at the moment, except that Amazon have for a couple of months had a listing for a BBC Audio release for August called Four From Doom's Day, and Big Finish now have a placeholder page for their contribution, with a release date of September. Hopefully this series will be a little more coherent than the BBC's last attempt at a multiplatform story, Time Lord Victorious. What gives me hope is that RTD seems to be involved this time around.

Yeah this one is not really hitting it for me, I think the teaser just doesn't look that could and I probably would not like the character of Doom anyways. It just does not work for me so I probably won't be checking in on this multi-media event much maybe only a little. I hope that maybe it is very good but the teaser just was to me some very cringy stuff.

Not really feeling this to be honest. I’m not immediately sold on Doom as a character and it does strikes me somewhat as a desperate bid to push her as a character for potential spin-off material. A bit like Brian the Odd for Time Lord Victorious. Although, despite his good concept he was practically forgotten as soon as the event concluded.
In fact, considering Russell T. Davies’s’ apparent desire to push for more spin-offs it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if we got one of these events every year. Akin to what Marvel and DC do for their comic lines.

I am in an agreement with you there actually about Doom, I am not sold on her as well, she just looks more like a librarian to me really.

Hmm, the trailer isn't exactly encouraging. I know Doctor Who is a family show, but this seems aimed at children. Hopefully the actual story will be better.

I do not feel this is aimed at children really, more for the adult fans who have the money to invest in buying the Big Finish Boxsets and the other media really. I can see why its aimed at children though with the way she talks but honestly if its not, she comes off as a children's show presenter more than a believable character who is in a sense of urgency.

I personally dislike multi-media projects. As I have a slight hearing problem, audio books & performances are very difficult for me to get into. I also prefer to have subtitles on when watching the TV-series since I sometimes have a hard time understanding what people are saying. There is also the availability issues since I don't live in the UK.
Friendly greetings, Horus Lupercal.
