There's an original TARDIS crew heavily based on the D&D Oxventurer's Guild. I've redesigned the Oxventurer's (Dob, Corazon, Merilwen, Prudence and Egbert) as different characters rooted in the Whoniverse. Oxventure in Time and Space - Character Sheets.pdf (141.4 KB)

Neat. I always liked the Chelonians and this NPC certainly makes for an interesting take on their race. Just a bit odd that they seem to have been forgotten lately as once upon a time they were very much a recurring threat in the Expanded Universe.

True, they only appeared in The Pandorica Opens in the new series.

It does help that their species has a very interesting history and hierarchy as well.

Wasn't there some kind of controversy concerning the Chelonian's creator/main writer/who-knows? There was some kind of mention of something like that on the Gallifrey sub-Reddit a while ago.
Friendly greetings, Horus Lupercal.

Friendly greetings, Horus Lupercal. Their creator Gareth Roberts has posted transphobic tweets (and hasn't written for Doctor Who since as a result), but that's much more recent. The Chelonians were essentially '90s monsters which featured primarily in the Virgin novels. They didn't really transfer to any other series, just appearances in one or two short stories and a cameo in a DWM comic-stip.

I can separate creations from creator easily. I really don't understand why a lot of people can't do that. For example: I can listen to Burzum and like it, but I consider Varg Vikernes to be a racist scumbag a$$hole. So, I think that the Chelonians could easily be separated from their a$$hole creator and be used a lot more.
Friendly greetings, Horus Lupercal.

So, I think that the Chelonians could easily be separated from their a$$hole creator and be used a lot more. Friendly greetings, Horus Lupercal. As I said, the transphobia comments came many years after the last use of the Chelonians (around two decades after their last major appearance and a decade since their most recent appearance of any kind - excluding their mention in The Pandorica Opens which was no more than that, just a namecheck). So their lack of use has nothing to do with Gareth Roberts being cancelled. In a wider context though, whether you or others can separate the artist from their work does not mean that the BBC, a public funded broadcaster, should employ people with such beliefs. Quite apart from whether ethically it's right or wrong to so, the BBC presumably considers there to be an unacceptable risk of reputational damage to the Doctor Who brand and that it would provide further ammunition to its critics, political and otherwise.
