If you’re not already aware, “Inside Number 9” is a BBC series written by the duo and members of the League of Gentlemen Reese Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.
It’s definitely worth a watch and in my humble opinion is leagues above the likes of the rather overrated “Black Mirror” And of course, it does beg the question of how we could adapt them to a campaign or adventure within the Whoniverse?
Please note, SPOILERS ABOUND.
The Harrowing
Plot: Ordinarily, Hector and Tabitha never go out as they have to look after their disabled elder brother, but tonight's event is so special that they are going to need a babysitter, and Katy's not going to turn down £88, is she?
Within the Whoniverse: Andras could be an Elder God who the pair have kept trapped perhaps to complicate things your Time Lord PC discovers that it was at the suggestion of their future self!
The Trials of Elizabeth Gadge
Plot: Two of England's most notorious and feared witch-finders are summoned by Sir Andrew Pike to the unassuming village of Little Happens in order to try a defenceless old woman.
Within the Whoniverse: Mr Warren and Mr Clarke could make for recurring NPCs within the time period.
Cold Comfort
Plot: A volunteer working at a comfort support line finds himself plagued by a series of strange phone calls…
Within the Whoniverse: Perhaps an adventure best suited for a solo Time Lord game. Your resident Time Lord PC finds himself beset by what can only be a cold caller from the telepathic circuits of their TARDIS. Trouble is, whether he goes or to any time period the calls persist. Manifesting via telephone calls, primitive artwork such as cave paintings or even a child’s nursery box ala The Empty Child. Just who is this caller? And what they do want? Are they some extra dimensional entity who just wants their attention like a slighted child or is it the Time Lord‘s TARDIS gone mad?
The Bones of St Nicholas
Plot: It's Christmas Eve and Dr Parkway has booked an overnight stay in a reputedly haunted church. He is keen to be left alone by the eccentric warden and his other guests.
Within the Whoniverse: Just what is the source of the temporal disturbances within the church? Would also work as a Christmas Special for a Sapphire and Steel campaign now that I think about it.
