“Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live...”
England, the early 17th century. And something wicked this way comes. While stranded in this century, your PCs attempt to keep their heads down lest they become another victim of the horrific Witch Trials that are raging throughout this time period.
However, they soon discover that trouble is afoot when they stumble across a coven of Carrionites who are once again attempting to release their brethren from their inter dimensional prison.
With your PCs at the mercy of the Carrionites and their ever growing magic, they’re forced to rely on the help of that most famous of Witch Finders Matthew Hopkins...
Considering ‘tis the Halloween season I felt it was only appropriate to make an adventure seed that could serve as an effective Halloween special for a campaign. Would also make for a different type of celebrity historical story where your PCs have to team up with someone who is considered one of history’s greatest (if perhaps misguided) monsters.
Not to mention I’m actually rather surprised Matthew Hopkins hasn’t been covered in some part of the Expanded Universe.

Honestly the Witchfinders episode should have involved the Carrionites not the Morax. However, though this idea is a good one for sure. Perhaps set this in 1665 and argue that the Great Plague of London was a Carrionite potion released onto London as part of their evil schemes. Sure, would not be Matthew Hopkins but certainly would be a good sequel to the Shakespeare code.
