I saw that!
Absolutely anything could be hidden there, perhaps in UV sensitive ink. written in encoded, small print in the midst of something else. The possibilities...........
It reminds me of the CSI New York episode Time's Up which featured alleged time travel related equations. One for UNIT to cover up. Now that I think of it, Father Brown also did a 'time travel' episode. Perhaps a semi-historical scenario in fifties Britain?

A Father Brown time travel story??? My interest is piqued! Yes, it was a bit of an oddity. Though the reboot has added mysterious cults and aliens to the stories. Definite Midsomer touches with choir sabotage and similar plots.
Actually Kembleford could be the basis of a 1950s campaign, perhaps with a time rift locally to add spice? A local RAF base with Sinister Happenings linked to Robert Goddard perhaps? 1950s Torchwood meddling? Definite possibilities, though rather distant from Hawking...

Kembleford in the 1950s could make for a nice recurring “home base” for your PCs so to speak. Something akin to Stockbridge or Hexford from the Expanded Universe. Take a note out of Mapp and Lucia and populate it with an interesting yet recurring cast of characters alongside the crime solving priest and you have a good setting on your hands. It’s the sort of place which you could easily (thanks to a convenient Time Machine) see what impact your PCs have on the people and the history of the place. A local historian who is a latent Time Sensitive might even be able to spot certain inconsistencies which may even cause problems in itself or draw unwanted attention.

Plenty of eccentrics, oddballs and outright weirdos. Incest, eugenics, electric superheroes, ghosts, hauntings, clowns, scarecrows, decades long, or multi-generational, grudges, UFOs.... Strange groups with hidden plans; bellringers, book clubs, singers, am-dram, cardiac survivors.
So easy to blend in actual aliens, time travellers and more.

Good idea. You could have it be the focus of a mass crossover with all these groups of investigators ranging from PROBE, Torchwood, UNIT, The Misfit Mob, etc etc all venturing to Midsomer at the same time to investigate the area. Of course, their paths would cross and shenanigans would ensue.

Add Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope (from "Vera") following a lead there & just imagine the wonderful clusterf**k that will occur.

BTW, I thoroughly recommend Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village by Maureen Johnson and Jay Cooper for anyone planning to incorporate Midsomer-esque elements. It has some wonderful elements:
The Village Inn The inn’s business model is set up to accommodate all of the mysterious figures with pulled-down hats and scarves over their faces who pay in cash and won’t come out of their rooms, even for meals. On the average night, the rooms are occupied by visiting inspectors from Scotland Yard, blackmailers, people long thought dead, and people who are actually dead.
The Fancy Antique Shop The antique shop is always closed. The owner is always away. The wares displayed in the window are priceless and covered with dust. This is not a sustainable business model, and yet the business remains afloat. Everyone knows how but no one talks about it. Don’t ask them about it. Stop asking questions.
The Newest Resident They don’t know the Old Ways and refuse to learn. They want to open up a yoga and sound healing studio in that twee Grade Two–listed thatched cottage. They’re talking to you because no one else will talk to them. They’ll be dead soon enough.

On a related note, I've been listening to the BBC audio adaptions of Colin Watson's excellent Flaxborough novels (available here) and I noticed they'd also be suitable for a 'quiet English village' scenario, or campaign. Lots of sinister, or just criminal, goings-on; women disappearing, mysterious newspaper advertisements, a prostitution ring run by the great the the good of the town, weekly explosions, plenty of murders and suspicious deaths. And that's before the arrival of Miss Lucilla Edith Cavell Teatime, the demure, whisky drinking, ladylike con-woman. Then there's the affair of the Oxo cubes and Naked Nuns.....
