Another wonderful inspiration.
The expedition would be an excellent spot for a group of time travellers to turn up. Either a gritty story of survival against the elements, or a 'secret history' scenario with Shackleton and his team (including the Torchwood personnel unmentioned by common histories) up against alien weirdness at the bottom of the world.
Of course in the present day there's the question of what artefacts recovered in 1912 that went down with the ship and will soon see the light for the first time in more than a century? Why weren't they recovered and brought back? Was something found in the antipodes, something so horrible that the explorers opted to let the freezing ocean reclaim it rather than risk it returning with them?
Personally I'd go with an involuntary time jump structure; the PCs encounter the artefacts recovered from the salvaged Enduance in the present day/near future and start having visions of the expedition, 'visions' that grow stronger and longer until they start appearing there physically. Only to become enmeshed in the plot, desperately trying to prevent the catastrophe that will result if the ship returns intact, facing off against desperate explorers, ruthless Torchwood agents and and unearthly alien menace. Plus their gradually strengthening 'echoes' from another timeline, one when Endurance returns and the horrors were unleashed on humanity....
And don't forget Mrs. Chips: why did Shackleton really have him shot?
Bonus points if Francis Shackleton, brother of Ernest, and the theft of the Irish Crown Jewels can be worked in.
