I was watching Prince of Darkness and it just seemed like it would fit so well with Omega in Dr Who. Basic premise (Spoilers for those who haven't watched the 1987 film).
SPOILERS FOR PRINCE OF DARKNESS
A group of quantum physicists are invited by a priest to examine a swirling green goo housed at his monastery. As they investigate it becomes apparent from translating old texts that this is the corporeal body of satan and and its containment has been steadily weakening as humanity comes to believe in science more than religion. Eventually it escapes, possesses and kills a bunch of them and they figure out this being is the offspring of the "anti-god" in an antimatter dimension seeking to escape in part thanks to messages sent back in time from 1999. One of them is fully possessed and attempts to summon anti-god through a mirror portal into this world before being tackled by another through the mirror and the priest shatters it. The lover of the girl who tackled the possessed girl through the mirror has another dream message from the future only now the shadowy cloaked figure emerging from the monastery is his possessed lover and he wakes up to find her in bed with him then wakes up again to approach the nearby mirror with a hand outstretched implying he's going to try and free her so while they changed things it wasn't enough.
END SPOILERS
Anyway it seems to me this fits very well with an escape attempt by Omega who is using his powers and an artifact he left behind on this primitive planet (The time lords seem to store a lot of things on earth for some reason) to free himself. The potential directions this can go for a party include . . .
1) In a future where Omega has escaped and is detroying the universe a starting party are using poorly understood technology to try and send warnings back in time while avoiding the possessed killers in hopes of changing their present.
2) A party could be playing a similiar origin story back when the good was first contained unable to destroy it due to low tech available they use pseudo science and faith based power (like the future haemovores who are kept away by it) to seal it up and contain it.
3) They could have their own Omega chase through time constantly trying to find these "offspring of anti-god" and prevent Omega's emergence. Perhaps starting off with strange readings and partially intercepted time transmissions from 1999 to 1987 leading to all sorts of possible avenues investigating the monastery and who this "anti god" is investigating the transmission origin point and trying to figure out how the messages were sent. If the ending is played up a chase of the possessed being trying to free Omega and stop them once and for all. Finally culminating in their own encounter with Omega himself
