Never heard of this special before.
Great write up of what seems to be a horrible show best forgotten.
And here I thought the Fox TV 8th Doctor pilot was the worst Doctor Who episode ever made.

Aw, I didn't mind it. It was a bit of fluff to raise money for Children in Need, Tom Baker's first return as the 4th Doctor since Logopolis twelve years before, and IIRC the final time that Jon Pertwee officially played the Doctor. Sure the story was rubbish and the attempts at a new 3D technique made my head swim, but it was fun to see all the old regulars together.

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary I decided to mock up a fake sourcebook cover. Then, once that cover was in existence I realized that it needed a "sourcebook" to go with it. So, here it is, in all it's terrible glory, the Dimensions in Time Sourcebook! Cover A - i.imgur.com/szAwPjg.jpgCover B - i.imgur.com/9AkH84w.jpgWord Document - drive.google.com/open?id=0B5pYsyQJx6f4WUQ4b1lsNkY5VDAThis project was pretty amusing to make, but I'd actually love it if as a group we made a stab at making a 30th Anniversary Book that included a more serious write up of Dimensions in Time and one of the Dark Dimension Good luck with that, I like what you've done so far. Though Cyrian's introduction story ('Rescue') was in the 1995 Yearbook, not 1993 (pages 32-3). He was a refugee who escaped "the plague-ridden asteroid" Gaveston1 in a small spaceship and crashed on the nearby planet DV Acrol 8 where he encountered some Cybermen of strange design and, despite being injured in the crash, evaded them while hoping for a response to his distress beacon. The Rani arrived, her TARDIS in the form of a spinning stone monolith that landed from the sky (descending in a "shaft of incandescent light" rather than materialising, and destroyed the Cybermen as they were about to finish Cyrian.
Interestingly the planet DV Acrol 8, where the story is set, must be extremely dense; despite a surface area of approximately 40% that of Terra (and thus a diameter 36% less) it has a breathable atmosphere and surface gravity similar to Earth, implying a density slightly more than 50% greater than Terra, around 8,500kg/m3. It should be rich in accessible heavy metals. Perhaps that's why those Cybermen were there?
1 A reference to the infamous Piers Gaveston, favourite of King Edward II perhaps? Or is my obsession with historical trivia inducing pareidolia again...

Without actually watching DiT, something that'll require some preparation, Cyrian's attributes and skills seem rather low. He did have a spacecraft, either his own or stolen, which suggest at least some background. Though it did crash...

I don't have enough alcohol on hand to rewatch DiT to get an accurate assessment of Cyrian, but I intended for him to have rather low scores. He seemed to be more of a set dressing for the Rani's TARDIS and JNT's excuse for the Rani to give the audience exposition instead of a real character.

I found it incredibly amusing that after Day of the Doctor, every news source (including the BBC) forgot about DiT when reporting about Tom's return to Doctor Who. It is rather fun that Six and the Brigadier actually get to interact together on screen in DiT as well.

Alright, now I'm curious. Any place to watch it? There is currently no legal way to watch Dimensions in Time. The BBC have never released it on VHS or DVD, and they are unlikely to do so as their agreement with the cast and crew at the time specified that it could only be broadcast once and never made available again. Copies in breach of the BBC's copyright are certainly out there, but please don't post any links to them here.

Yeah in DiT he seemed like set dressing, in the prequel he seemed more like an actual character.

It triggered a terrible migrane. Oh why didn't I heed your warning.
