Not here to start a flame war or anything along that line.
I've had my eye on the game for years now and even have bought the Unit Source-book as well as the 4th Doctor source book. But i've yet to pull the trigger and buy the core rules as I am personally not that big of a fan of the new series. So I am curious is there any chance a rendition of the core rulebook could be made at some point with only artwork, images, references and styling from the original series run?

I can't see putting out a special core rulebook with artwork tailored to each individual Doctor and staying in business. (I think the "new Doctor = new rulebook" thing is part of the licensing deal with the BBC. I could be wrong there, though.)
It's a cool idea, and I'd dig a special 4th Doctor edition rulebook. But that'd lead to people who think Troughton was the best wanting a special 2nd Doctor book, then the two or three people who like Colin Baker most want one, then the Hartnell fans, and soon, Cubicle 7's whole business would be putting out JUST those books and losing money because not enough people want a special Sylvester McCoy rulebook.
Sounds like the best option for everyone involved would be for you to make a 4th Doctor slip cover for the book, possibly using the 4th Doctor sourcebook cover as a template.

I beleive the regeneration of the rulebook has more to do with selling out of the current version, and figuring it is worth adding the new Doctor into the most recent version. The Sourcebooks should give you all the Classic Who love that you need. But the Corebook is also designed to be played in any era. Its already a Classic Who RPG regardless of any of the pictures it might use. (also, there was nothing wrong with McCoy! )

That said, if some miracle happened and C7 could/would have some way to do it without bankrupting themselves, how long do you think the Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, and Baker queues would be and how long would the Davison, Other Baker, and McCoy ones be?

Well, I'd venture to offer that anyone who'd read the awesome Seventh Doctor Sourcebook would have realised how great McCoy was and queue around the block! (I may be a little bias though)

I liked him, myself. It's one of the few points on which the Lancashire Hotpots and I disagree.
