Loved it! The dynamic between The Doctor and Danny was brilliant. Also loved the whole bit with the Matt-Smith-look-alike teacher. I think this series has finally found its stride.

Excellent. "There has been a spillage". Interesting abundance of gadgets this season.

And this week's classic series quote is "up or down" (originally from Power of the Daleks). The Fish People reference is obviously also to the 2nd Doctor's era.
Overall, this episode was OK but not my favourite of the series.

The way the Doctor didn't remark on Danny's resemblance to his future relative seemed a bit odd to me as well as him and the maths / PE teacher remarks. Kind of like Danny had a perception filter of some kind. I wonder if Danny has a certain type of fob watch somewhere...or maybe I'm reading too much into the way those scenes were portrayed.

I think you're reading too much into it. I believe the Doctor's current incarnation just has a blindspot about soldiers. After all Lethbridge-Stewart was a maths teacher.

That was where the Doctor told Clara he still had to explain Danny to him. When he learned that Danny Pink was her boyfriend he made the connection, and now wanted to know why she hadn't told the Doctor about him when they met Orson Pink. He probably also thinks all humans look alike.

Loved the episode, some very funny moments. Really liking Danny as well, Samuel Anderson's quiet, almost downplayed portrayal works really well.

On the subject of Danny Pink not being exactly what he seems, he could be a humanoid alien, time traveller or UNIT/Torchwood/Missy/other operative sent to infiltrate the TARDIS by getting close to Clara (or just to keep an eye on Coal Hill school, that hotbed of weirdness. Certainly is moves against the Skovox Blitzer seem rather impressive for a human.
Thoughts?

Certainly is moves against the Skovox Blitzer seem rather impressive for a human. Thoughts? No. Certainly not. If Danny does have any secrets, they probably have more to do with regrets he has as a soldier, and not any extraterrestrial origin. On the episode as a whole, I'll admit I had my doubts at first.m at to this point series 8 has been a major letdown for me, with Deep Breath and Time Heist being very "Meh" and Robots of Sherwood being perhaps my least liked in all the series. The episode Listen had been my one bright point thus far. I enjoyed this episode more than I thought it would. Clara had great chemistry with both Danny and the Doctor, and the Doctor has some really good moments. I can't say I care much for Courtney, though. I think her character may have potential, but her actress may hve to work a little harder to bring her character forward. The ending was fairly meh for me. Danny suddenly has gymnastic abilities we never heard about before, and we never really get much time with the monster of the week. I was also hoping we'd see Danny join the TARDIS crew, but he opts to stay at home as moral support, which I suppose fits his character more. Overall, probably my second favorite this season, right behind Listen and right ahead of Time Heist, and miles ahead of Robots of Sherwood. Still a fair ways behind Blink and Girl in the Fireplace, though.

So far, I've enjoyed the way this series hasn't given me what I was expecting from an episode title or synopsis. That being said, this episode isn't really at the top of the list, treading much more into Sarah-Jane Adventures territory. I know we needed an excuse to get Danny and The Doctor to meet, and it's not a bad episode from that point of view. It's just not my favourite so far.
Enjoyed the whole "And I can tell I'm just a perfectly normal caretaker because none of you are listening to a word I'm saying" bit. And the "Deep cover wink" as it will henceforth be known.
Nice to see Missy returning at the end - even more intrigued about her whole setup now. It's not just her and her garden, she's got Chris Addison as receptionist...
As with previous seasons, I'm looking forward to this one being complete and then blitzing it in a weekend, finding the hints of what's coming and seeing how well they fit in once it's all resolved.

Not a bad episode, but I'm really not into the Clara Oswald show.
I'm ready for a new dynamic here. We had what, 3 seasons of the same companions (hot chick & her dude). Now we're gonna have more hot chick & her dude hanging w/the Doctor.
Just ready for a different set up, the 2nd Doctor & Jamie were buds! Why can't we have a male companion or an alien or something other than the hot chick & her significant other?

Entertaining but too lightweight for my taste.
It seems like they could have come up with something better for Danny's hero moment than gymnastics. Pretty lame.

A fair story and nice to see the Doctor return to Coal Hill school. Again, it didn't feel that the story went anywhere and was there just to introduce the Doctor and Danny proper.
