Hi folks, my group is back doing our Doctor Who campaign, and I am stuck without an Idea for our third adventure. I want it to involve Elvis in his younger days, and I want the adventure and Elvis to be taken seriously by the group. Would anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I've also been considering using Elvis in a celebrity historical episode, but towards the end of his career.
For the early years, how about either when Elvis was in the US Army or on the set of one of his films? The former would probably present Elvis as a character that the players could take seriously. But I kind of like the latter - you could set it on location on Hawaii, during the filming of Blue Hawaii. This would have been in 1961 when Elvis was 26 and had finished his stint in the Army. There are a number of options for creating monsters appropriate to the setting - Hawaii brings to mind volcanoes, so maybe the Pyroviles? Alternatively, creatures inside the electricity of the lighting rigs, or able to manifest from the film celluloid - hmm, the former sounds like the Wire and the latter like the carnival creatures from the Torchwood episode. For something a bit more original, a creature made of sound perhaps - this might allow Elvis the opportunity to play a direct part in defeating it, by using his voice to counteract the frequencies of the creature itself.
I've not thought about any of the above in any depth, but hopefully there's something for you to think about there.

Wow that's cool you where thinking of him as a historical character as well. So far I have the adventure set up around the time of the sun recordings. I like the sound creature idea a lot, even thought about making him a member of Torchwood lol. I think I will throw around this sound creature idea, Thanks misterharry!

You could always set the adventure during his stint in the Army. He was in Germany in the middle of the Cold War, after all - there are a ton of possibilities to that.
Maybe some aliens (Slitheen would work well, if you like them) are trying to start World War 3, and to heighten international tensions they kidnap Elvis and make it look as though those Dastardly Russian Commies did it.
Or possibly some German scientist is experimenting with hidden/leftover WW2 Weird Science, poking at (or creating) Things Man Was Not Meant to Know...and after Elvis' Army unit encounters evidence of it, UNIT (and thus your players) are called in to investigate further.

I think he should be abducted by aliens who plan to use his voice as a weapon, and the PCs have to rescue him so he can become the King of Rock and Roll.
A later adventure could show him in his fading years, morose about never having had such a grand adventure since that day and the PCs, knowing he is about to die on the toilet the very next day, taking him on one last trip around the galaxy, where he ends up getting them in all sorts of trouble.
Or, here's a possible twist, maybe the dead Elvis was a cloned body and the real one was rescued by some alien promoter and ended up living out the rest of his life touring the universe...

One other thought - you could do a little bit of a fakeout on your players. In real life, Elvis wanted to be an FBI agent and actually met with President Nixon in 1970. We could assume from that fact that if he found out about a secret plot that could be harmful to America, he'd want to do his part to fight it.
The threat in the adventure could have nothing at all to do with Elvis, except that he happens to coincidentally be in the vicinity when it's taking place. And then the players would have the additional task of having to keep him out of danger while they work to defeat it, whatever it is.

If you incorporate Elvis and Nixon's meeting in December of 1970, The Silence would still be around. Also, his next album in 1971, "Love Letters From Elvis," contained the song "When I'm Over You," with the following lyrics: When I'm over you there'll be darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever shine again when I'm o-over you When you're leavin' is over and there's not another tear to cry In the silence of that last goodbye just remember, remember this When I'm over you there'll be darkness where my soul has been And no light will ever shine again when I'm over, over you. The last song on the album is called "Life," which is obviously about Jesus, but take a look at the lyrics and tell me he couldn't have been talking about The Doctor as well! www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/elvispresley/life.htmlAdditional info: Love Letters was actually released in June of that year. In March, he did a gospel album called "You'll Never Walk Alone," which includes not just the title song, but one called "We Call On Him" that ALSO sounds like it could be about The Doctor!

Hmmm, that's sometime between 58-60 and that would be real early for UNIT. They didn't really become organized until sometime in the mid to late 60's That would be the Intrusion Counter Measures Group that would be involved

Thanks guys all great ideas, I'm starting to think of an idea where a group of alien thieves somehow steal his singing talent, not his voice but the whole thing that made him who he was. Maybe they could sell it or like pertwee said use it as a weapon or to charge a weapon. I like the idea of them coming back as well, we did that with the characters meeting Sherlock Holmes. I knew what starkllr said about him being with the FBI was true, that's why I was kind of throwing the idea around he could be a secret Torchwood operative. I might make a race like the Threshold, cause I really loved those comic stories. And, I might incorporate them somehow as the big baddie for the end of our "season". Man I thought mentioning this adventure with Elvis no one would respond, but you guys seem well versed in the king! Thanks again to everyone.

Also bear in mind the King was an 8th Dan black belt, so handy in a fight.
