The new edition of the core box set is now available for pre-order from Cubicle 7: shop.cubicle7store.com/epages/es113347.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es113347_shop/Products/CB71109due for delivery end of May/early June. Check the announcement in the Official Announcements section of the forum for a discount on the pre-order that is only available THIS weekend (it ends 6AM GMT on Monday 5 March). I've made my pre-order, even knowing that there are only a few changes, to show my financial support to C7 and hopefully - finally - open the floodgates on all the supplements etc we've been waiting ( years) for

Not being suckered in by C7 Pre-ordering again. And so it begins But seriously, C7 is going to really have to push the boat out on the marketing front to overcome the "negative publicity" surrounding its abortive attempt to launch the game full-throttle the other year. This is effectively a total relaunch of the game for most customers and C7 needs to take advantage of this and really 'go large' with its publicity ( Doctor Who Magazine barely mentioned the game when it first came out, so that needs to be corrected, and there are several other general sci-fi mags out there that need to be told about this "new" game). Hopefully, the BBC will also be encouraged to carry the box sets in their own stores - which will help get it in front of a broader market - and as a box set it should ( hopefully) find its way into High Street bookstores as well. Everyone here who has a blog should be promoting DWAITAS as well ( if they aren't already) - as we need to do our bit, of course, to ensure that the game continues and we do get to see these much-talked about supplements. Just saying: this is DOCTOR WHO - one of the BBC's flagship shows and the game needs to explode into the public conscientiousness , not just fade into the background behind the latest brouhaha about the 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons. DWAITAS should (and could) be a market leader - not "just another game" - because of the combination of "incredibly popular franchise" and "well-made, easy-to-grasp" game mechanics. Everywhere that Doctor Who can be found, DWAITAS should be found as well ( game shops, comic shops, DVD stores, specialist shops etc)

But the biggest hurdle for C7 at the moment is still C7. We know they have great games and excellent quality. Alas their commitment and promises leave a lot to be disired at present. THIS MUST CHANGE if they are to continue their success.

I bought my 10th Dr boxed set from Play.com, so there certainly were moves afoot to get it out into the stores. It needs to be front-and-centre in Forbidden Planet and the assorted Travelling Man shops here in the UK at the very least. WHSmiths would be good...
My beef with the game is the price point for entry. £40 is a lot. I know it's not a lot for what you get - full-colour, boxed set, sheets, dice, 3 books, the works - but it is a lot for a kid to be expected to blow their pocket money on. Parents who aren't gamers already aren't going to readily but something like that for their kids when they don't really understand what it is (trust me, I've been there), parents who are gamers will have probably bought it already and aren't going to grow the market for the game any further.
There needs to be an entry-level set. 1 book, does everything - sample characters (if you want to create your own, buy the box), GM's advice, couple of adventures. Hell, even print dice down in the corners of the pages like they used to with the Fighting Fantasy books. All for less than a tenner.
Just my 2p.

I believe that due to licensing issues, c7's DWAITAS materials are required to be boxed sets
