At my last game, I had a question posed from one of my players that the rulebook didn't really clarify. I made a call and carried on but I thought I would just seek to know if others have ruled the same or differently. Here is the situation:-
During a chase, you use the Co-ordination + Athletics to increase speed. That's fine. BUT When performing stunts, it doesn't really say what set of attributes and skills to use.
My player stated that it's pretty pointless using a stunt when you are just going to roll Coordination + Athletics because if you are rubbish at it, you probably won't have tried to increase speed or chase in the first place (without the use of story points). He wanted to know if other skills could be used for this.
I ruled that YES other skills could be used and to a degree can be manipulated by the player to performing stunts that the character would be good at. Obviously, it depends on the stunt details as to what would be used. For example, vaulting over a wall may use Strength.
I was just curious as to if other people had come across this and how you ruled it?

The attribute and skill used depend on the kind of stunt. Naturally.
Want to pull down some crates to block the pursuer's path? Coordination + Athletics. Sorry. Want to reintegrate a wall stored in your sonic blaster in the middle of the alley? Coordination + Technology. Want to make a bunch of people swarm the market square by yelling that the pursuer is giving away free apple pies? Presence + Convince.
You need to think outside the TARDIS.

If I was feeling nice i might make it strength + athletics to haul crates...

It really is a GM call - if you're trying to knock down the crates while running as fast as you can - that's probably coordination (hitting them in just the right place to apply your running momentum in the most unbalancing way, etc). If you're trying to run THROUGH them so that they'll collapse behind you, that's almost certainly a strength+athletics (albeit, perhaps a harder check depending on the size, weight and contents of the crates)
