Space ship Space Station more likely. It is almost the size of a planet like, eh... like Mercury. It's more likely to be "artifacts in the background where the planet was on the previous day" that show up due to how the image is processed... but still. They want us to believe that. I wonder how accurate those measurements are going to be if such artifacts show up. It is of course perfect gaming and conspiracy material. Mercury Beta, a cloaked planetoid, following Mercury Alpha, who, or what, might wait there ... hidden ... planning ...

Actually they layered 2 video feeds over each other to create the video of the event. The "Spaceship" is in fact nothing more than a "visual artifact" created by the process. There were in fact 2 videos of this event made and one of them clearly shows the "object" on the other side of Mercury at the time of the event. If you looks closly you can see that in the first video it is between Mercury and the flare and in the other Mercury is between it and the flare. This proves beyond a doubt that it is in fact simply a leftover image from the process of creating the video the still frames were taken from. What gets me is that the coolest part of this event is totally ignored. The solar flare nearly consumes Mercury. It was massive. And for the first time we have video of the event as it happened. But now, a stupid camera glitch is more interesting. Heck the experts knew what it was from day one, but leave it to a generation of conspiracy morons and X-files freaks to figure that it's secretly a cloaked alien ship. Bravo~

I felt the urge to reply and explain what had caused the bazaar image. I did not mean to over step my bounds. Forgive my overly emotional reply. I've had a friend who keeps saying it's aliens spying on us and even after showing him the evidence that it was only a glitch he continues to claim that I'm being "blind" and a "puppet of mass media." I apologize for venting my rage here.

We now know you are one of them, Sirus! ;D It doesn't prove anything, it is probably an instantly teleporting space station. Or a quantum fluxed wave-thing that collapsed differently for the two cameras. Honestly, I don't get why people are looking for a simple and scientific explanation when there might be a giant alien spaceship, or two, hovering near Mercury!

If you are, funny. If your not, the reason for looking at the simplest, most scientific explanation is is because it is often the truth. It's logic. The solution where you have to make the fewest assumptions is often the truth.

(Although I thought it was Oc zams Razor.)
