What did you think?

It was good, and that's how I voted. Lots of nice bits and pieces but I thought the Doctor seemed to be off balance and not really like his usual self for much of the episode.
And is the lady with the eye-patch the new "cracks" for this season - always turning up somewhere in every episode?

A good bit of fun, a simple 'in between the main plot' adventure.

I think every bit we've seen with Amy is her dreaming of the actual events; that later the Doctor and Rory will be running around trying to find her because she's vanished. Or maybe it's a Fake Amy, acting like her because their minds are linked. Or maybe I'm just making stuff up as it occurs to me.

It seemed like a good story idea, but kinda riushed at the end

I have the distinct feeling the universe is trying to kill Rory.
1. He took a laser bolt for the Doctor from a Silurian and was then promptly eaten by a time rift (was resurrected as an Auton from Amy's memories before returning to his human form following Big Bang II) 2. Was thought to have died rescuing the Pandorica from a fire (turned out he just went from being the Last Centurion to being the Lonely Nightguard) 3. Was "killed" by Canton during the events of "Day of the Moon" (it was a ruse to throw off the Silence) 4. And now we have Rory drowning (only to be put in stasis by the Siren and resuscitated by Amy)
For a moment I thought Rory was going to be forced to spend the rest of his life on the Siren's ship. Poor Rory.

Poor Rory. Yeah, he's kinda becoming the Daniel Jackson of Moffat's Doctor Who. Liked the episode, nice bit of fun after the darkness of the previous two episodes. The 11th Doctor's characterisation did seem to slip at some points during it though.

Good episode, but plot holes. I can forgive plot holes if they're fairly minor, or vital to the plot, but am I the only one who noticed that the pirate whose hand the boy cut just disappeared without explanation?

No, quite a lot of people noticed that! Some are wondering if This Means Something....

I was disappointed and found the plot totally predicatable. The awful image of Henry Avery and his crew blasting off into space had me shouting at the TV as did most of his dialogue.
Scurvy brats and splicing the mainbrace? Walking the plank is reinforcing a pirate myth.
At least Henry Avery really did exist and really did plunder the Mogul of Indias treasure. It is also unknown what happened to him. It was believed that he changed his name and returned to England...Maybe he really did blast off into space.

I found it better the second time around but it's not a great episode. In fact I'll go so far to say that the writing team ran out of ideas and needed a filler episode, and this was it.

The implication being that if you can sail a dingy you can fly the TARDIS.... I've got a sailing badge from Scouts, maybe I should submit that application form to NASA. Cheers Mark

Pond does make a jolly good pirate.

It was better than I expected - the trailer in the previous ep made it seem more naf and all shot in a studio. However the "mistaken automated medical service" has been done before - in Big Finish, and in the Empty Child.

Enjoyable, but not enough swashbuckling pirates. I guess they're leaving all that to Johnny Depp

Really liked the twist, and absolutely loved the ending.
