Hi folks. I've got a new player joining my Earth-based civilian investigators campaign, so I'm setting aside the character spotlight episode I had in store for a more generic intro story for the new player. Since I've got a wedding to go to this weekend, I feel inspired to run something related to that. Unfortunately, I'm suffering a bit of a creative block at the moment, so I could use some help. Any ideas for a plot hook involving a wedding? One of the player characters (likely the new player's) will be guests at the wedding, or at least a friend of the bride/groom. I'd really appreciate the help here, kinda struggling for ideas in a lot of things right now.

Sorta-practical idea: The best man's wedding gift was brought back from a strange vendor he visited during his gap year, and is supposed to be "a stone for seeing the future". And due to the psychic charge from the heightened emotional atmosphere of the wedding it activates, and people start actually seeing their futures.
Not-that-wedding-y idea: The picturesque little country church they're getting married in is the resting place of an alien monster, as small churches in the Whoniverse often are, and heightened psychic charge, etc. etc.
Insane idea: The bride or groom is really an alien, and betrothed since birth to the leader of an interstellar battlefleet now entering the solar system to retrieve their intended and scorch the planet that dared try and pre-empt their nuptials.

I like the insane idea of the poster above!
Groundhog day: Scientist realises that he missed the boat with the girl of his dreams. He works as a retro-inventor for Torchwood i.e. he works back from alien tech to work out what it does and how it works. The time technology he has recently been asked to research could be the perfect way to get back with his lost love. the problem is she's about to get married. Investiagtors have a strange sense of Deja vu when they meet another guest at the wedding and then start to see him again and again, sometimes at the same time! Investagators have a time limit as with each jump back he is damaging the timestream as he continues over his tracks. Will they prevent him him or will his wearing down of the timestream result in something nasty breaking through?

The wedding rings are actually disguised TARDIS keys, or are otherwise part of an important artifact.
A psychic creature that takes the joy and happiness of others to feed and entertain itself steals the love of the bride and groom, leaving them both in bitter conflict. Can the investigating team find the creature and restore their love?
An old girlfriend of the groom who had her sights set on marrying him returns...from the grave. Alien technology was involved, and it threatens horrible side effects (eg, people she touches have a chance of turning to dust in order to fuel her unnatural life)
Aliens with a strange fascination for earth culture arrive at the wedding as guests, bringing gifts. It turns out that their arrival wasn't completely unexpected, as the Bride's family has some unusual history.
One of the wedding guests is an alien criminal in disguise. The Judoon arrive in force with plans to take the criminal captive, but the wedding is horribly disrupted. Can the investigators find the impostor and restore order to this event?
The two stone angels in the chapel garden mysteriously vanish. The bride is the first to notice, since they were part of the appeal of the chapel when it came to choosing it for her wedding. Soon after, guests begin to disappear. Can the investigating team neutralize these weeping angels before it's too late? (Keep in mind that "disappearing" the bride and groom is a legitimate option - they may yet be found to have lived happily ever in the distant past. It can contribute a great deal of shock value as well, but they shouldn't (initially) go together, and they shouldn't disappear first.)
