I thought it was just ok. I really felt it was lacking something with this episode. Maybe it was just the boyfriend getting in the way, I don't know.
Why no mention of the Great Vampires? Another reference for the old fans would have been nice.

There wasn't really any need, and it could've confused things. Nice, yes; necessary, no.

I loved it! Rivals The Time Of Angels for best episode of the season so far. I was pleasantly surprised by how well Rory worked as part of the team. Excitement, laughs, great scenery and heaving bosoms. I liked the fact that resolution had a taste of ashes to it too.

Very entertaining, I agree with Spickey - it had everthing that a good story should have.

Rollicking good fun from the precredits "cliffhanger" to the end of Confidential - if the Doctor ever needs a new coat Matt Smith already has one, and not many executive producers would be willing to jump into a river in a nightie for the good of the show.

So, the actor who played Francesco is the Confidential narrator. I've known this for a few weeks, but I didn't know who Francesco was till now, obviously.
I loved gondola = plank on rails. Made me laugh.
Very entertaining, not quite as good as last week.

Yet another brilliant episode. I'm really loving this current series. - if the Doctor ever needs a new coat Matt Smith already has one, and not many executive producers would be willing to jump into a river in a nightie for the good of the show. LOL, I said the same things to my g/f while we were watching. Matt dress more like The Doctor is real life ;D

I thought it was a good back-to-basics Dr Who story. Sometimes its easy to get caught up in season arcs and character development so it eats up storytime, but this did both well as well as just being a good Dr Who story. Still love the library card (even though it was in the preseason releases)

I've been pleasantly surprised at how consistent the stories in this season have been so far. Although not all of them have been brilliant, none of them have been cringeworthy either. Vampires of Venice was a nice, self-contained mid-season story that gave us some clever dialogue and some character development for Rory and Amy without relying too heavily on the overall season arc. Nice work.

It had a couple of plot holes that leapt out at me, but I'd rate it above Starship UK and Victory of the Daleks. But most of that was because of the dialogue and character interaction, the plot let me down.

I found this to be an almost perfect Doctor Who story. Small plot holes that can easily be handwaved, a reasonable explanation for all kinds of things (Loved the explanation of why they couldn't be seen in mirrors), fun character interaction. Rory came off pretty well, I thought, and it was nice to see that Amy didn't completely ignore him in favor of the Doctor, like Rose did to Mickey. Again, I'll point out where this would have been a moment of supreme angst for David Tennant, it ISN'T for Matt Smith.
I loved the nod to William Hartnell, but I also noticed that in some scenes, Matt Smith seemed to be channeling PAtrick Troughton. (I'm refering at least to his facial expression and tone of voice when he's musing on what could be worse than a vampire... the comic face he pulls there just made Troughton leap to mind.)
Entertaining from beginning to end.

I thought the cake bit at the beginning was a bit Troughton as well.

At various points this series, I too have thought Smith was channeling a previous Doctor:
Baker
Colin, not Tom though.

Matt is playing it very Troughton, This is a good thing This certainly is a good thing and is something I've noticed. A few people have said to me, "He's just like Tennant." I usually reply with, "Well, it's The Doctor, the same character, but he's much more like Pat Troughton with a touch of Tom Baker." The Troughton reference is usually too old or obscure for many of todays casual viewers to make further comment ;D

I enjoyed it. The Doctor's decision to include Rory was great. I loved the library card.
I'm just sad that in the U.S. we have to wait til June 5 for Amy's Choice.
