Hello,
I am new to these boards and the Doctor Who:AiTaS RPG. I am going to run the game at a local convention in a few months and I was thinking about ways to have the Doctor as a player character. I did not want to have one person play the Doctor, so I came up with this idea. Put the Doctor's character sheet in the center of the table. The Doctor will be a floating character where everyone will take turns playing him. I have not worked out all the logistics yet, but i was thinking some sort of bid, or initiate roll to who gets to act on his behalf.
Just wanted to see what other people thought about this?

It could work, although it might lead to a very inconsistent Doctor - that could be part of the storyline. Bidding or rolling off might result in conflict at the table, which is a more serious problem. Maybe Story Points could be used (as they have a plot-altering function already) to choose the Doctor's actions. Hopefully everyone will agree, but if anyone strongly disagrees they could outbid them. Since players won't have too many SPs to spare, that should keep fights to a minimum. -- An idea I've considered for a one-off game is that the Doctor is hit with an alien artefact and split into multiple versions of himself, each enbodying a particular side of his personality. Possibly all looking like the current Doctor, or possibly all played by different actors who'd be good as the Doctor.
