An interesting website, full of human oddities to inspire scenarios and chracters,
A Cabinet of Human Curiosities is full of oddities like the visit of the artist Antonin Artaud to Ireland in 1937 to return the (alas fictional) staff of Saint Patrick. It didn't go well (due to his mental health issues and lack of English or Irish).
Then there's (Princess) Violette Murat, fin de siècle lesbian and owner of a decommissioned submarine (in which smoked opium), or Marchesa Casati, who wore a necklace of live snakes (and nothing else) under a fur coat, and walked her pet cheetah on a lead......
