I had also thought about writing up a supplement on the short lived television series “Wizards Vs Aliens” by presenting it as another possible alternate universe within the wider Multiverse. But again, it’s all about the lack of time and motivation. I remember that! That one was an interesting show back in the day, but it would also mean how would you adapt magic to the Vortex system? I haven’t given it much detailed thought to be honest. We already have the Magic Adept trait in one of the Expanded Universe sourcebooks so I’d probably tinker with that as well as offer a write up on the rules of this universe regarding Wizards and the like. All merely hypothetical you understand at this point.

Could probably do it by reskinning Psychic Traits. I think that's how the Seventh Doctor sourcebook (and the UNIT one, IIRC) treats Morgaine's Sorcery.

To me I just want a basic vortex system sourcebook, no settings tied to it more used as a rulebook to create new settings with honestly. Like give suggestions on different initiative systems for different game styles. Make it a tool-kit using the vortex system basics and give expansions to it to fit different genres etc.

Like a chewier GURPS, now that that system is functionally defunct.

If anyone wants to make any suggestions to Why Not Games, you can reply to Ken Spencer's post of June 16th in this group (you'll probably need to join the group to do so): Rocket Age (Unofficial)

I want a sourcebook that incorporated playable alien species, like race packages for different species to play. Things such as Catkind, Draconian, Ood, Judoon, Sontaran etc that are more common species and easily playable so players can well choose from one of those and play with them.

One thing about the "Dragonriders of Pern" is that the dragons, and their small cousins, firelizards, can travel great distances in seconds by going "Between". This could be a reference to The Vortex that that a TARDIS travels through.

I've hestitated about replying in case I'm telling you something you already know. So apologies if I am, but it's very easy to come up with a list of race packages for aliens you already have the full stats for - just list the differences in Attributes and Traits from a standard human (i.e. assuming Attributes of 3 and no Traits) and calculate the cost. As an example, using the Draconian stats from page 120 of The Third Doctor Sourcebook, you get a race package as follows: DRACONIAN RACE PACKAGECost: 1 point Coordination -1 (-1) Presence +1 (+1) Resolve +2 (+2) Strength +1 (+1) Alien (+2) Alien Appearance (Major) (-2) Code of Conduct (Major) (-2) In this case, I had to remember to include the Alien trait (some sourcebooks omit it, presumably for reasons of space) and decide that their Alien Appearance is Major. Other than that, it's a matter of a minute or so to come up with the race package. As I said, apologies if this was already obvious to you.

Thank you for the information it was something I already knew. However I was more referring to the idea of creating a sourcebook for these race packages of common doctor who species including a guide on how to do them and also charts each each trait and their trait cost whether negative or positive to help others in creating new race packages for new species.

OK, so I'm working on something that should tick some of those boxes. Tentatively titled The Player's Guide to Alien Characters, it'll focus on aliens with potential to be used as player characters, containing a paragraph or two of text on each, plus 1e race packages and a photo or two, space permitting. It's intended to be something that you can pass to players to look through if you're running a game in which they can play non-humans.
I can't commit to timescales as I need to work around other projects, but hopefully it'll be a matter of weeks rather than months.

Hmmm if we had to do new franchises I wanna see a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy sourcebook, give us a Vogon race package as well lol. The actual in-universe book can be a gadget one could have. Would be neat stating up Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect etc.

But that would be a major undertaking that I don't have time for at the moment. I have however written a short booklet covering gadgets from the HHGTTG, see this thread for a download link, which may get subsumed into a larger sourcebook at some future date.

They're still here on the forum (but I'd probably do them a little differently these days): HHGTTG Characters.

All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available. Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel. Sapphire and Steel have been assigned. Yes, I'm working on a Sapphire & Steel sourcebook - though don't get too excited yet, it probably won't be released until the New Year. Even so, I've made good progress and am having a great time rewatching the entire series!

A lot of antagonists from the series such as The Man With No Face would pose a worthy challenge for any Time Lord/PC group. For a regular group of Earthbound investigators even more so. Are you planning on touching on Big Finish's continuation at all? In any case, I'm greatly looking forward to this.

Are you planning on touching on Big Finish's continuation at all? In any case, I'm greatly looking forward to this. I'm afraid not apart from a brief mention of the two elementals they introduced, Ruby and Gold (but no stats for them as I know almost nothing about them). Before Big Finish started their series, I always thought they'd be an automatic buy for me. But they couldn't get the original actors so I passed on it. I've regretted it since of course, but they're quite hard to come by these days and fairly expensive. So no, it's the TV continuity only as I don't have the audios to be able to cover them, and only a few of the Look-in comics. If things changed - if for example Big Finish were able to make them available as downloads and priced as such - I'd consider getting them and writing a Volume 2. But I wouldn't hold your breath. As for Look-in, I'm hoping that Chinbeard produce a TPB collection of the strips, as they've already done for Robin of Sherwood and The Tomorrow People. They say they're open to publishing collections of any of the Look-in comics as long as there's enough demand. Personally, I'm hoping for Sapphire & Steel and Timeslip! Speaking of which, would anyone be interested in a Timeslip sourcebook somewhere down the line? It's a rather obscure show these days. For those who aren't aware of it, it was a children's British TV serial from 1970-71 involving two kids who step through a time barrier. There were four stories over 26 episodes, with one story set in the past and three in different alternative futures. Although it was a children's show, it was an intelligent one and quite prescient, dealing with climate change among other things. I quite like the idea of a sourcebook for it, but not enough to want to write it just for my own amusement.

And yeah, much like their long lamented and much missed take on The Tomorrow People it's a shame Sapphire and Steel isn't readily available. And I'd certainly be interested in a potential Timeslip sourcebook.
