Hi all, Ive been running into a problem recently and I was wondering if any of you creative folks on the forum could hep me out.
now its not really a problem with the books or how the game works or anything, but rather, an age old TTRPG type problem.
Im speaking of absentee players, or players who take several days to post in a play by post type game.
Now Ive been a DM for D&D for about a decade, but my players have always been my very close friends who live in my home town, so we don't have these issue with our own games so much, and if we do, we feel comfortable calling each other out on being absent.
Directly to the point, I've got a player in a play by post AITAS game, and I really quite enjoy their character and their input when they do post, but it often takes multiple days to get them to even just roll a simple check, which ofc is not fair to my other player.
So my actual question is: Dose anyone have any advice with dealing with this type of thing in a way thats positive for everyone? I don't want to just kick the player as they tell me RPGs are one of their few escapes, and their fragile emotional state I feel like would lead to hurt feelings if I simply said " hey you need to post more", though that's what I think might be the most direct approach, which is usually best imo. So if anyone has any hands on experience dealing with this type of thing, your advice will be much appreciated
also any other GM advice or tips would be greatly appreciated as well~
TL;DR How can I most politely deal with a absentee/non posting PC?
