So I've talked with a few people about this, and I want to see what everyone else would think about this idea.
So something that has been bumping in the back of my head for a while is a series of spin-offs from my Adventures of Kanya Campaign. These are all stories that are pretty much different genres and different stories regarding the various characters Kanya has encountered through her life. What happened to them before and after their stories? What happens when Kanya isn't there to help them, or is somehow there before she properly meets them? What about interactions with other Whoniverse Characters? These stories aim to answer that. Here's a summary of each spin-off and what to expect from each one:
Murphy Grainer- He was Kanya's First Companion, but what was life like before he met her? Was there actually a time when he was separated from her? How did he become successful after they parted ways? Every person has a story. This is Murphy's. (A Single-Volume Collection of three chapters. Chapter One tells how Murphy got involved in the time-travel test that ultimately led to his abduction by Billixus on Gallifrey when the Renegade and Imperial Daleks both tried to take him out of the vortex simultaneously. Chapter Two tells the tale of a time Murphy accidently got left behind while Kanya skipped ahead with the TARDIS. Think of The Lodger meets Flatline with Murphy having to be the hero defending a small suburban neighborhood from an alien threat whilst dealing with a month without Kanya. Chapter Three is a story told by Murphy to his daughter about how he and Coua found success after Kanya let Murphy go to be with Coua.)
The History of Eddie Gregory- When Eddie Gregory tried to pick-pocket a professor's belongings, he ended up getting more than he bargained for. Now he's enrolled at Luna University trying to make grades and forge his own destiny. Buckle up. It's going to be a wild ride. (A Four-Volume Collection of Four Chapter Stories dealing with Eddie's Origins at Luna University and ending with the beginning of Kanya's Third Incarnation following the Death of River Song. Volume One is a story in four chapters describing Eddie's introduction to River, establishing his supporting characters of classmates and teachers at the university, and how he managed to foil a plot to mutate people there into monsters. Volume Two has five chapters which take place after Eddie's introduction having assisted Kanya's second incarnation in stopping a zombie invasion from another reality. Eddie begins to learn the dangers outside of the classroom when he faces off against five incarnations of the Master; The "Spy" Master recently seen in Spyfall, Missy, The Saxon Master, The War Master, and the Eye of Harmony Master from my own campaign who was responsible for ending Kanya's first incarnation while in the Matrix after obtaining Godhood. Volume Three is Five Stories telling Eddie's "Finest Hour" and his "Worst Failure." This story brings to light something that personally annoys me as a fan of any franchise and I've brought up a couple of times on the forums. That nostalgia can be toxic. Bear in mind, I do not say that it IS toxic, but that it CAN be toxic. That people feel like they have an entitlement just because they like something. Because we have pleasant memories of something, it doesn't mean everything about it was good. It can then damage you and make you susceptible to greed and you just keep wanting something that's never going to come until in the end, you become the thing you hated. Basically, this revolves around a futuristic 13-Year-Old Tech Wiz CEO who plans to eliminate toxicity through kidnapping famous people on both Alt-Right and Alt-Left sides of the spectrum and planting people for a debate about those going missing where he will then release a subliminal made from the Church of Silence telling everyone watching to kill each other. Basically let God sort out who is worthy of living and being killed off, instead of letting toxicity consume the whole world from either side. Eddie attempts to stop them, but ends up loosing something very important in the end. The Fourth Volume tells the final days of Eddie's education as he and his friends look to the future while Eddie ultimately decides the kind of man he wants to be.)
Clear-Rush and the Super Heroic Escapades of Being a Teenager with Super-Powers- Ishuv Itna was granted super-powers and exposed the criminals posing as the Super-Hero Team called 'The Protectors.' Now that they're gone, where does she go from here? Can she balance an education while dealing with powers and maniacs who want to take advantage of her planet? Whatever the case, this sounds like a job for Clear-Rush! (A Single Volume containing four super-hero themed adventures with Ishuv Itna from the final story in the Third Kanya's life [at least from our perspective]. The first story sees Ishuv entering a Witness-Protection Agency and move-in to a new-home only to discover somebody has decided to play super-villain and is using her parents to lure out Clear-Rush. The Second Story expands on the epilogue to the story Ishuv appeared in. Now living under a new identity, Ishuv embraces her Clear-Rush persona to fight a new criminal called 'The Rat B******.' The Third Story sees Ishuv taken to the 51st Century to team-up with a new superhero team called 'The Legion of Tomorrow' against an unknown powerful enemy. The final adventure features Ishuv meeting the recently-regenerated Fourth Kanya who needs her help against a dark counterpart to Clear-Rush.)
Let me know what you think of these ideas and anything you'd like to see. Are there any characters from my campaign you'd like to see get a spin-off? If so who and what kind of stories would you like to see them in?
