DNA results confirm Paracas skulls are not human

I take this report with a pinch of salt, but at face value it provides a springboard for a Doctor Who adventure (even if Indiana Jones got there first):

DNA Reports Confirmed: Paracas Skulls Are Not Human - Further testing Planned

It concerns the series of elongated skulls unearthed in 1928 in the Paracas desert in Peru, believed to be at least 3000 years old. According to this report, mitochondrial DNA of samples tested include mutations unknown in humans or any known animal.

As the report concludes, who were these mysterious beings? Did they evolve separately on Earth? What caused them to have such drastic differences from ordinary humans? And is it possible that these beings are actually not from Earth?

Hmm, that appears to be a re-hash of the story from 2014 with no results from the promised "additional testing". Foerster is a tour operator with a vested interest in attracting people. Likewise Childress is not a reliable source.

Game-wise it'd be interesting though; perhaps they're the remains of an experiment in deliberate mutation of human. But by whom, and why?
