For anybody interested in the behind-the-scenes production of Doctor Who, both classic and new series, this sounds irresistible:
Doctor Who - The Complete History
It's a partwork series of hardback volumes, 80 in total, with each volume covering three stories (or thereabouts - I guess there'll be some variation along the way). At the moment, it's being launched in test areas only (Liverpool, Manchester and Middlesborough, I think), but it can be subscribed online from anywhere within the UK and Ireland. If it matches previous magazine test runs, they'll issue maybe half a dozen volumes before cancelling and then launching it nationwide a few months later. I'd hazard a guess that it'll be available in the US and elsewhere at a later date, similar to how the Figurine Collection was marketed.
I've read elsewhere that The Complete History is based on Andrew Pixley's highly-regarded Archive series from Doctor Who Magazine, updated and expanded with additional material.
At £9.99 per volume, it's not cheap - it'll cost almost £800 for the entire set. But they're hardback books and, judging from the pictures on the website, they'll look gorgeous. My only concern is how to find room for another 80 books on Doctor Who!
