So while I'm working a bit more on my RPG Game "The Three Universes," I've also been working on a novel which I'm aiming to try to get published. The idea is a basic zombie comedy book taking inspiration from films such as Shaun of The Dead and Friday the 13th, centering around a zombie invasion at summer camp. While working on this book, I came up with the idea for a scenario in DWAITAS that could make for a good Halloween Adventure. This is also inspired by a couple Who fan stories I've had ideas for and IDW's Infestation event (particularly the Star Trek crossover which I highly recommend for any crossover fans and zombie fans.) Here's the lowdown on the adventure:
Setup: Feeling the need to cool down after another adventure, The Doctor (it can be any but in my case I would pick Twelve since I think this plot would fit his character a bit better,) takes his companions (any of your choice) to a planet for a nice camp out. Unfortunately, something rotten has mucked up the planet really badly. A deadly virus has been released turning most of the local inhabitants into undead fresh eating creatures whenever the moon of this planet is full. There is one man responsible. Doctor R.O.N. the planet's ROBOTIC OPERATIONAL NANOSURGEON. But all might not be as easy as it seems
Antagonists: The Titular Zomdeadea, anybody infected with the virus. The Rani AKA Now Ron (hey, if Steven Moffatt can make The Master Missy, why not this? Look, I feel as if it's been almost a year since Kate O'Mara's death. I'm actually working on a fan audio series wherein my own incarnation of The Doctor tries to find the Cyber-Sarah Jane Smith [he reveals she died sometime after his Twelfth Incarnation came to be] and finds ANOTHER reborn Cyber-companion and learns of another male Time Lord who he assumes to be The Master again but actually The Rani who created her own pocket dimension to escape The Time War and continue her work.)
Action Scenes: Outrunning The Zomdeadea (these aren't the slow moving types from Night of the Living Dead, but rest assured they're not the stupid fast-moving and coagulating-to-scale-a-freaking-wall-or-building-style Zombies from World War Z. Sorry again to anybody who liked that movie but I didn't enjoy it at all. Not even Peter C could save the day there,) Holding up in a safe location, trying to prevent themselves from getting bitten, trying to keep the remaining survivors morale up and their heads cool.
Problems: As stated before, these zombies aren't exactly slow. Plus, they can actually be quite strong though a good whack to any body part with a blunt object can be useful. Also, The Doctor will obviously want to end this with as little violence (as should the companions, unless they have a bad trait which says otherwise,) but finding a cure could be easier said than done. Also unlike normal zombies, these ones retain small amounts of intelligence which seem to grow each day similar to George A Romero's Land of the Dead with the character of "Big Daddy."
Further Complications: The return of The Rani obviously has put the Doctor in a new mindset if we are playing with a Post-Time War Doctor. He may become oblivious to the others wishes to see The Rani brought to justice and instead either try to save her or force her to reveal where Gallifrey is depending on The Doctor used. Another problem is that the planet sent out a distress call for help which should be arriving in two days. If the zombies retain small amounts of intelligence, they should remember how to fly and could end up spreading the plague across the galaxy.
Things That Might be Tricky: Convincing The Rani to stop her plans. Finding a cure for the zombies. Keeping everyone sane and reasonable. Finding a way to keep the help coming away from the planet when most of the communications have been destroyed. Staying alive and holding out long enough to save the day.
Continuing the Adventure: If The Rani is captured, he'll probably tell The Doctor a hint to finding either Gallifrey or possibly The Master (an old hiding location, perhaps?) Also, perhaps the cure the group finds is only temporary, and not permanent. How can they ensure everybody will be okay? Will they have to build a new pharmacy factory for the cure? What happens when they run out of supplies needed?
Let me know what you think and if possible, keep all flames and hate comments to a minimum. This is just a crazy idea I had and I thought I'd share it.
