i found this to be an interesting take on the show www.buzzfeed.com/newu456/what-if-doctor-who-was-american-5pxx how knows you might get some good ideas from it. it would be a good way to do the game for some of the people hare in the states who do not know about doctor who and don't get it ps if this worng section i am sorry |

It's a great list. There are some inspired choices. I've had this one in the back of my mind for the past week or so. If someone was interested in running a sort of tongue-in-cheek alternate timeline story, this would provide the perfect fodder for an adventure. You could have the Doctor and his companions run into a very different sort of Doctor--an "American" Doctor!--from a parallel history. In a sense, this would allow you to re-enact "The Next Doctor" in a way that plays with the differences in American and British culture.

Now that's a tricky one, particularly since the objects that line a city street in Britain aren't that different to those we find in America. The nearest equivalent would be a phone booth, which presents its own problems as they're made of glass and mostly transparent! (They do have the advantage of being increasingly anachronistic, however.) I'm stretching to come up with a more creative solution. How about a good-sized hot dog cart? |

This could make a pretty good brainstorming thread. It needn't be a street fixture as such. Did they have street photo booths in 1963? Or a boarded-up phone booth might work. 1. It's uniquely American. 2. It's iconic. 3. It existed up until the 1960's. 4. It has an entry point. 4. A few people can fit inside. Or, generically:  |

I saw that and thought it was a fantastic list for casting an American Time Lord. I have to say, Tony Shalhoub as a manipulative, calculating Time Lord is definetly my favourite. I always thought James Marsters would make a great Corsair, incidentally. Gene Wilder as a crazy Fourth Doctor is fascinating, I think.
Also, Harrison Ford as The War Doctor, made every part of me go 'YES!'.

I've heard Curry was offered Eight but turned it down, having been typecast-for-life once already. He then mentioned it to his friend Paul McGann, which is how Paul learned the part was available. The rest is history.
Can no longer remember where I heard it, though.

How about Richard Dean Anderson for Five
Bruce Willis (pre-Moonlighting and Die Hard) for Six
And I could see Jeff Goldblum as five, six or maybe even seven...

I'm not on board with their Ninth Doctor (especially since Nine is my favorite). As an alternate, going with their idea of Joss Whedon running it and knowing his propensity to reuse actors, I would instead suggest Adam Baldwin. He's already an established actor (like Eccleston) and can be both intense and comedic as needed.
