Greetings all, I am starting my new campaign soon and would like to see if anyone here would be willing to help out a little with it. I will be posting campaign updates and writing up sessions here as they happen. I am just finishing off a few fine details and was wondering if anyone of you kind academy graduates would be willing to lend your expertise? One of the key elements in the campaign will be technology - the good and the bad of it. The PCs in the game will all be getting a variant of the Sonic Screwdriver - a limited version to be sure as i want to encourage teamwork so no-one will have a device that can do everything. Anyway to facilitate this and to give each device its own identity i need to stat up some screwdrivers, so here's a list - what should each one do (ideally there should be a full "Doctor" version and a PC "Lite" version of each gadget). Thank you in advance for any help you can offer... - Atomic Screwdriver
- Fusion Screwdriver
- Harmonic Screwdriver
- Artronic Screwdirver
- Solar Screwdriver
- Magnetic Screwdriver
- Thermic Screwdriver
- Gravitic Screwdriver
- Quantum Screwdriver
- Polaron Screwdriver
- Nucleonic Screwdriver
Once these are done i will make trading card versions and post them up here.
Oh and I will post the premise of this campaign shortly as well.
Thank you kindly.
All will be well.

I can't claim credit for this one, as it was a joke from the comedy Big Finish play The One Doctor.
Still, with that array of possibilities listed, the Psychic Screwdriver could be an actual thing.

Thank you kindly, it is now definitely going to be used and written up!
Perhaps a filter or focus for an existing Time Lord's innate psychic ability?
I'm surprised the master never used this, still i suppose he was rather good at the hypnosis on his own.
I must listen to the one doctor again now...
I will start writing these up as soon as I am up and about!

Ok here is the premise of my upcoming Dr Who campaign that I hope you can all be a part of!
Partly because I want this to be inclusive and to be more a part of this forum and also because I am lousy at statting things up!
At some point just before the Time war two Time Lords were the big brains behind Gallifreyan special projects.
This could be summed up in three words – Prepare for war.
One of the Time Lords who would become the main narrative thrust of the campaign, would become known as the Archivist, the other would become known as the Collector. (This is a clear attempt to set up a Dr / Masteresque dynamic though with a less clear delineation of good and evil).
The Archivist creates the Moment (the device that would eventually end the war) and the Collector creates whatever the device is that Rassilon talked about – the Final Sanction that would end the universe and allow the Time Lords to ascend their physical forms and be free of cause and effect.
Now I am not fully certain which way to go – either they didn’t create these directly and their work was perverted into tools of Chronal destruction or WCD (much easier with the final sanction as you could argue the Collector was trying to evolve Time Lord society so it would remain untouched by war – I suppose the moment could have been some attempt to repair temporal rifts or some such – ideas on a postcard please?).
Anyway the last great Time war happens and both of these scientists are horrified at what is happening and undertake strange projects to prevent the end of all that is.
The Archivist builds / grows a very special Tardis – he pulps two of them together and wipes the personality core of one of them to put a copy of his personality in its place. This piece of clever block transfer computation also means the Tardis is quite a bit bigger than most others and has some very specialist equipment as it is designed to hold at least one of every species in the universe in its hold and a noosphere buffer designed to ride out the potential destruction of everything into the next universe.
The Collector has a different idea – he will build a transmat device that goes across time as well and space and grafts it onto his personal Tardis and relocate species into a very special bubble dimension (in actuality another TARDIS) he has grafted onto the skin of this universe and placed a version of his biog data into the Tardis AI running the placed in order to give every species in the universe a new home. On the off chance you haven’t worked this out this place will eventually breakdown and become “House” as seen in “The Doctor’s wife.” Of course by the time it gets to that episode its prime directive has become hopelessly confused – being a TARDIS it feeds on TARDIS energy.
Anyway this also means that many of the legends of abductions by aliens around the universe have actually been the collector taking samples for his great work – and of course his Tardis can alter its shape to look like the local legends etc.
So now we move forwards to the end of the Time war, the two Time Lords put their plans into effect.
However no plan survives the first shot of battle.
The Archivist’s plan goes smoothly but due to a Chameleon arch and a malfunction (not sure about the specifics yet) the Archivist finds his self / Artron energy scattered across time and space. This accident also means that the Collector has to flee by turning his Transmat onto himself and set for random co-ordinates somewhere outside the Time War.
I still need to work out the exact details on this matter. Any ideas would be appreciated.
The Archivist’s Tardis flees across time and space before the Time War ends with its ersatz Archivist personality essentially as its pilot. However it cannot complete its mission without its actual pilot so it defaults to a backup protocol, locate another Time Lord to find the Archivist. After the Time War it cannot find any except the Doctor and as he is responsible for ending the Time War this Tardis doesn’t trust him.
Given the prevalence of Time Lord Interference in Earth’s history it lands on earth in ancient pre-history. Unable to find the eye of Harmony in the wake of Gallifrey’s destruction and the exorbitant energies it will need to keep literally billions of species in temporal suspension it rests and hives off part of its chameleon circuit functionality so that it can now only emulate forms of entrance and egress (i.e. doors).
And so it sits, waiting for a Time Lord on the right Time Track (so it has to hide from say the 3rd Doctor in the UNIT era) to be able to fully reactivate and pilot it to find the pieces of its old master.
Fast forwards to 1941 the Doctor Dances. When the Doctor used the nano-genes to heal the humans who had been rewritten into gas mask zombies they copied the Doctor too well and some Gallifreyan genetic code was written into these humans. Decades later their ancestors are now part Time Lord certainly enough to have developed and functional Rassilon Imprimatur.
These people will be the main PCs of our story – students who are unbeknownst to them part Time Lord (hence top of the class etc).
The Tardis has become the door of their student bar. It “abducts” them genetically finishes them off using an imprint from the chameleon arch and deposits knowledge in their mind (basically everything they know is from what they have watched on TV so no-one has to feign surprise or ask what a Dalek is etc). Of course it doesn’t tell them it has modified them, not really.
In fact the TARDIS tells them that their mission is to find the rest of the Archivist and re-implant him back into his own body (which is in the archive); if they don’t then due to complications with the genetic tinkering their minds will burn if they don’t complete this mission with X time period.
The Tardis can project a neurological hologram that can follow them around as long as there are two of them near each other (think Al from Quantum Leap) – this is handy for me as GM as it means I can dump info on them at any point if needed. It can also be solid within the Tardis – though the PCs will not know this at the start.
The Tardis is not actually mean or evil it is following a hidden program that tells it to do this for some reason, a reason that will only come out in the season finale.
And of course the Collector is out there somewhere.
Thoughts, comments, ideas?
Thank you kindly.

Thank you kindly for the feedback thus far I will be posting stats as soon as I can swing it. One thing to mention quickly, the PCs will be for the most part statting up themselves as characters - the reason for this being i will be bequeathing them the relevant traits for being an inexperienced time lord (turn of the universe etc) for free - and they don't know it.

- Fusion Screwdriver - fuse two functional but distinct objects together to get the capabilities of each (e.g. fusing a wood door and a metal door together to get properties from each, or fusing a lamp and a hat together to get a headlamp) ; or if you meant atomic fusion, create a localized and contained fusion-based power source to keep something running a long, long time - Harmonic Screwdriver - align (or separate) the vibrations of two or more items; could be used to keep someone alive (aligning heart rhythms), shatter glass, etc.

Thanks faure that's some top work and i will be using them! I have decided to give all the variants the "scan" trait however just to cut down on inter pc cattyness and bickering. Now to raid Deviantart for the card graphics!
