Seems the 'Old Timelord Arrogance' has emerged and there's something a bit sinister brewing in ther Doctor's psyche.
So, has the Doctor finally gone bonkers?

No, he is turning into The Master!

I think like all of us at some point, he has just reached critical mass. Everything he touches slips out of his grasp, his world, his people and everyone he loves, (even though he tries to stay detached), and he has reached that point where he draws a line in the sand and says no more...I think this all goes back to the Time War, his been repressing post traumatic stress, and now his broken, no matter how far he runs he can't outrun time.

@ charliebananas
That sounds about right. I mean, losing your whole planet must be one hell of mind-job.

Sounds like the time lords are set to return based on the cryptic musings of the ood brain druing the little trailer during children in need last week.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ood are the Timelords!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ood are the Timelords! Hmm. Don't know about that. Did I mishear or did the Oods say 'They are returning.' ... timelords? Daleks? Cybermen? I could go with the cybermen finally being a threat after their comedy outing with the daleks, the Daleks (again) would be boring, the return of the timelords would do me nicely. A darker, meaner, timelord race whose brush with extinction has hardened them and made them determined that the only way to ensure no further problems is to keep all of time in the tightest grasp possible, and stuff all that non-interference stuff they used to preach ... If Adelaide thought the 'Timelord Victorious' was bad, just imagine what reality would be like with the Timelord s Victorious. Now those would be scary guys to pit the Doctor against

Perhaps he's becoming the Valeyard :-)
You know, i dont miss the Time Lords. They were once SCARY [War Games] and ended up their careers as inept jokes [Trial of a Time Lord]

Which means we could be in for a hell of a surprise (and/or a colossal let down) if it isn't. IMHO, only something as cataclysmically universe-altering as the return of the Time Lords is going to be an adequate send-off for Tennant edit: Oops, missed an 's'

BTW, if you want to avoid a bucket of spoilers that will make you go ' WTF?!?' ... do not check out the cast list for End Of Time (either part, but especially part 2) in imdb.

I got burned by IMDB's 'spoilers' before... they had Ben Kingsley listed as Davros for one of the season finales. Mind you I DO know one big name thats in it... and I've seen a picture of him in costume with Tennant and **** oops... I've just realized that other name might be a spoiler if people HAVEN'T seen the preview of End of Time or the Children in Need trailer...

Was it just me, or did anyone get the feeling there was a bit of a John Carpenter vibe going on in this (re: Ghosts of Mars and Prince of Darkness)?
Between the zombies on mars, contagious possession via water and 'messages about a returning doom from the future', it seemed to be a bit of a shout out to me.
