I need a character idea for a game a friend is supposed to run. We're accompanying a Time Lord as he goes about missions for the Time Lords. The other player characters are:
A Judoon A psychic thief/spy A burned out former time agent [thing Bruce Campbell in Burn Notice] a techie with a cyborg arm [with scan/transmit & open/close] who used to work for the Time Agency a pilot from Flight 19 [wannabe Han Solo/Jack Harkness]
There is no dedicated medical doctor, but I havent found a way to make that idea interesting to me. Plus, the techie does have some medical skill.
We have an obvious alien. We have future people and aliens who look human. Trying to find something different.
any ideas for a character?

What about a Malmooth doctor? Or maybe roll up like a Thal freedom fighter? Or a Thal freedom fighter who is an expert in medicine? Lol

Hadn't considered a Thal. Interesting. I know the GM is using the Movellans in his first adventure.
One of the players suggested a Robot doctor.
On the non doctor front, been thinking of a human from the distant past, one in the Jamie mold perhaps. Maybe some sort of knight or Roman legionnaire or something.

Historical characters can be fun. I have a Knight Hospitaller in my game who has been very successful. He's classically well educated and intelligent, yet still from the middle ages. Also, the reactions he receives from the 'future' characters when he tries the 'don't worry, I'm a doctor' routine are priceless. Other characters that might be worth looking into: a Byzantine 'face', a Mongolian warrior, an ancient Chinese Apothecary, a sailing ship captain, a Buddhist Monk, a Berber Chieftain, or any number of other such iterations. They might require a little research, but you can find some very interesting figures.
On another front, alien possibilities are endless. You could be from a race of sentient computer codes and simply have a projected, varying image. Or perhaps a 'hard light' species. A variform of some kind would allow for both humanoid and obviously alien interactions. You could also play a future Silurian, or Homo Reptilia (or whatever they end up calling themselves), that keeps getting confused/angry when called 'alien'. Or how about a non-humanoid that was a Veterinarian at a zoo containing humanoids, if you're still looking for MD ideas.

The GM might consider a Movellan medical technician, introducing you during the adventure. Or... A Renaissance anatomist. A volunteer doctor at the battle of Solferino who rode with Henry Dunant. A 19th century Scottish medical student who studied under Joseph Bell. A nurse from the Great War. A modern paramedic. Having one modern character would seem like a good idea.

I'm leaning toward a Knight from the alternate world of BATTLEFIELD, but I'm not sure what to do with the armor and sword.

A heavy sword does Strength +4 damage (Heavy and Sharp), a lighter sword does Strength +2 damage (Sharp)
The Armour is a possession that grants a variant of the Armor Trait - reducing physical damage by a "reasonable amount". I think 5 is probably rather high for Medieval Armour (since that would put it on par with Sontaran Battle Armour), but 3-4 might be fair. It would also likely reduce coordination by 1 when used.

Though the knights in Battlefield aren't from a medieval society - it has advanced technology such as spaceships, so 5 points of Armour is more reasonable in their case.

I often wonder why so few of us ever choose such mundane character concepts as: shop girl temporary secretary kiss-a-gram (or stripper!) waitress airline hostess and so on. After all, those were some of the best TV characters. But they're a bit boring in game-format...without a lot of roleplaying and back-story.

Well, my one chance to play I was a history student... flying around with a librarian... a veteran of the psychic wars, a space colony vet and a giant insect technician.
