Hmmm, new monsters, possibly new adventure (depending on what is changed) and write ups for the new characters....
I might be tempted to get this set. If the rules are not really different, having a spare PHB would not be a bad thing.

I presume the screen will be identical except for the art. Right?

That's cool and all, just... a year or so too late for me to possibly justify buying it. I would, however, plunk down less money for a self-contained 11th Doctor Update or something, in print or in PDF.

Okay. Now don't just announce it, RELEASE IT! Seriously. Cubicle 7 are at presently my favourute RPG company. But they make more announcements than anyone else without actually releasing anything? You can't make money on announcements.

You can't make money on announcements. Trust me, Fields of the Nephilim (aka Carl McCoy) makes more announcements than anybody, and many come to naught! The Straight to the light promo video, the Sleepers EP, the Sheerfaith prints, the 24th Moment DVD, so on and so forth!

I believe they've announced the set for this date as its one they're confident they can hit, and it ties into the next series release. The GM screen should be the same in game terms, just with all new art.
The plan is to produce an update pdf for the monsters section for those who bought the Tennant set. So if you got the original set you'll actually be ahead as some beasties from that one aren't in the new one I believe.
The new set will also have two new adventures (I know this as I've written them) so if you do decide to get a new copy you get something more you can use. I doubt I can say very much more, but I've entitled the adventures 'Knight of the comet' and 'Ashes of the Daleks'.

Does it feature Gene Hunt, Dalek Killer? And if not, why not?

I hope to one day go in W H Smith or Waterstones and see children reading the box and becoming intrigued, and a new generation of roleplayers established!
If ever there was a game to encourage children to roleplay, then Doctor Who AITAS is it!!!

As to releasing outside the gaming shops, I think you'll find C7 is already doing that. I've certainly seen the Tennant set in non-game stores. As the cover got mentioned I thought I'd also post what they put up on the C7 facebook page.

I linked to the cover as well as mentioning it. Links could contrast with general text more strongly, couldn't they?

I was hoping there'd be at least new adventures along with the new season's monster stats to help justify my buying the main box set again. Course, I still gotta find the A&C set around here somewhere.

Course, I still gotta find the A&C set around here somewhere. If you are having problems you can always order direct from C7. We'll also have copies at any of the conventions we're attending.

So this is scheduled for April, then Defending the Earth & Time Traveller's Companion at some point after that. New adventures is good but why couldn't this have been ready for Christmas? How many kids (and adults, for that matter) would love to unwrap this beauty Christmas morning then watch the Christmas special that evening? It would be like an explosion of gaming goodness in their minds!

That sounds really good. I'll definitely buy the PDF version to support the company and get all the new goodies. Keep on the good news. S.

How many kids (and adults, for that matter) would love to unwrap this beauty Christmas morning then watch the Christmas special that evening? It would be like an explosion of gaming goodness in their minds! As usual the answer is that these things always take longer than you think. Remember C7 is essentially a 2 man team outsourcing writing, layout and art over too many product lines to count. Added to that the BBC has to clear everything. Doing the new box has meant Dom has had to relearn all the formats and style guides all over again. C7 are producing so much stuff now it is unreal. For instance, last year at Dragonmeet we had an end table and way more room than we needed for all our games. This year we had 5 tables along one wall and were still cramped for space with all the products. I'm sure they would have loved to get it out for Christmas, but releasing it with the new series is the best way to catch another wave of Who excitement.

I'm not sure I like the cover - all those whites and blues make it a bit 'cold' for my liking. Oh, well - I dare say it will grow on me

I love the cover ! It reminds me a lot of one of the FASA editions, with The Fourth Doctor and Leela (not the common one with the more black dominated cover, but the other one that goes for upwards of $400 on eBay now).
This set is a must-get for me, since we play so much Doctor Who that I need spare copies of the rulebooks. And having the extra monsters, as well as gaming stats for #11 & Amy Pond will be fabulous !

Has anyone pre ordered from cubicle seven yet for the eleventh doctor edition? If so do you know when the pdf will be sent to you?

No, I've not pre-ordered yet. But the latest news release from Cubicle 7 (10th March) states "Spring/Summer" for the DWAITS re-launch with the 11th Doctor Edition: www.cubicle-7.com/I would take that to mean that an April release (as previously announced) is now unlikely, certainly for the print version - though I guess it's possible that the pdf version could still be sent out in April.

Rightly or wrongly, the online shop still states April 2011 for Doctor Who and May 2011 for Primeval
The C7 web site states Primeval and Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space launch in Spring/Summer 2011.
April 2011 is spring and May 2011 could be considered early summer 2011. A month or two either way, I'm not bothered about.
Considering that Doctor Who is a major franchise, I am sure Angus and Dom want it in the shops ASAP.
(I am a Fields of the Nephilim fan, Angus is a FOTN fan as well, and we are used to very long waits between releases! LOL!!! Maybe that's why I am so patient!)
