Wonderful, I really enjoyed that. But I am a fan of James Corden and Gareth Roberts writing. It would have been nice to see more of whose alien ship it was. Maybe if it was The Masters TARDIS or something like that. The trailer for next week was fantastic. Surely the ultimate evil would be an Evil Doctor? Knackers... Valeyard maybe? Okay, I'd prefer something new but you never know.

That was a great deal of fun. (I didn't watch the preview, as usual; they spoil far too much. I'd ask if you'd kindly refrain from open spoiling if poss

Good episode - obviously bordering on 'Midnight' in terms of centring on the Doctor. Nice humour. Good use of Matt's actual football skills. I too would have preferred more explanation about who the ship belonged to. Was it a TARDIS? Or, simply another Time Ship. Looked vaguely Jagaroth in shape, but they didn't have time technology - Scaroth nicked his by manipulating the past.
Another 'flashback' of the previous Doctors - that's what... the fourth time we've seen the First Doctor this season? The rest at least twice or thrice. The fact we've had the 51st Century involved means time travellers (like the Time Agents). Yet more perception filters here - more fiddling with reality. The TARDIS wasn't particularly close to where the Crack formed this time - so, is it actually the Doctor who's the focal point of the anomaly?

Wasn't blown away by this one I liked the Doctor trying to fit in and being brilliant as usual The "someone else trying to build a TARDIS" could have done with more explanation. To me it was more a solid episode han a brilliant one As for the next ep thing....I was seriously expecting the vault to open and you'd see the 11th Doctor standing there.

I really liked it. I'm assuming that the ship belonged to one of the many pre-timetravel races that the timelords were actively surpressing, befor the Time War.

I really enjoyed this one. Not great as stories go but it was just fun and that made it for me.
I was half expecting it to be a TARDIS of sorts once we saw the interior but maybe that's a plot element they can bring back at a later time.

It was a typical Gareth Roberts episode IMO, so I went for 'it was OK'. I would have scored it lower but Matt Smith's performance (with what he was given) was too good. I thought the episode lacked any real sense of peril, drama, or consequence, and the Doctor seemed uncharacteristically unconcerned by the ongoing slaughter of innocent people (including a child!). I've also had quite enough of 'love will save the day' solutions to technological problems. Victory of the Daleks was more than enough of that tired old tosh for my liking. For me, the only interesting bit of the episode was the meta-plot add-on in the last couple of minutes. In much the same way that the last few minutes was the saving grace of Cold Blood. There are a couple of potentially interesting plot threads elsewhere, but The Lodger itself didn't deliver on them. Since one of those dangling threads is the actual premise behind the episode's plot, I think that's pretty poor going. Overall, I think the RTD-era writers (with the obvious exception of the Moff) have delivered the weakest material of this season. I'd be quite happy if we saw nothing further from Mark Gatiss, Chris Chibnall or Gareth Roberts. I don't think any of them have a fantastic track record on Doctor Who. I generally like what Toby Whithouse has done on the show so far, but I'd like to see him expand his range beyond the similarities of plotting and theme shared by School Reunion and Vampires of Venice before he gets to do another episode. Being Human is evidence enough that the man is a talented writer rather than a one-trick pony. From here on I'd ideally like to see a mixture of established writers new to the show (e.g. more Richard Curtis and Simon Nye if possible, plus the upcoming Neil Gaiman episode), and those who have delivered really strong episodes in the past. I'm talking about the likes of Rob Shearman ( Dalek), Paul Cornell ( Father's Day, Human Nature/Family of Blood), and Matt Jones ( Impossible Planet/Satan Pit). I'd also be interested to see what Howard Overman (writer of Misfits) would do with a Doctor Who episode.

I'd disagree. While Victory wasn't great, I wouldn't say the same of either The Unquiet Dead or The Idiot's Lantern. In the greater scheme of things, I'd call that 2-1 for Gatiss...

In fairness to him, The Unquiet Dead was the first episode of nuWho that I properly enjoyed. However The Idiot's Lantern isn't one I'm a fan of, so I'd say he wrote one good episode - five years ago. Not the best batting average IMO. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree.

A nice, fun episode to lighten things up a bit after the last few episodes. Not big on the creepy side of things, though I have to say this line gave me a bit of a chill:

I will be honest - I thought this was going to be crap. Nowhere near as good as the comic strip on which it was based. I was so wrong. It was jolly good fun.

Interesting episode, I rewatched it tonight. Hadn't noticed the Van Gogh portrait on the fridge before, I still got freaked out by that picture in the hall (when I first saw it I thought it was something from the adams family, or a white Ogron), and can't figure out why the time ship had a cat flap? All in all I really liked this episode.

I liked this one a lot. It was a good fun episode, with creepy bits, before the season ender.
