Looking for minis for Martha and Donna? Mystic Spiral Miniatures do a 3-pack of "Dr Dave, Lauren and Miss Jones": www.mysticspirals-miniatures.co.uk/MS_ModernHorrorShop.htmlI have to say that the photos put me off for a while, but I ordered a set and they arrived today. OK, Martha and Donna are rather wide-hipped and "Dr Dave" is a bit chubby, but the actual figs are better than the photos suggest - not up to Crooked Dice or Heresy standards, but until they release versions, these are OK. Mystic Spirals also do a set of 9th Doctor, Rose and Captain Jack analogues (on the same page), but figures for these are already available elsewhere.

Another June release from Crooked Dice are a couple of new head sprues. The first is a set of alternative heads for "Tweedy Mattison", so you can modify your 11th Doctor so that he wears a fez, a stetson or a beard. (After last week's episode, I'd like to see a tricorn version too!) And the second is a new head sprue for their astronaut minis, including a skull in a space helmet, so you be able to create Vashta Nerada Zombies! www.crooked-dice.co.uk/forum/Blah.pl?m-1304867662/s-new/#num11

Or run a Frontios scenario. Seriously, I watched the DVD last night and the guards were wearing the Blake's 7 helmets. I plan to get some of these minis next week. I have bought a couple of dozen minis from Black Tree and they've delivered, nice minis. And I got the TARDIS & console from Ainsty Casting too, excellent. Well, they were until I painted them

Those that have the Micro universe figures, I was wondering how they compared in size to the Star Wars Miniatures series. I was thinking a few of those figures (or some of the D&D painted minis) might serve on the tabletop.

They are quite comparable in size and I find they work very well together. I also use HeroScape figures (these also work well particularly as they cover an array of time periods such as Roman Legion, Samurai, modern agents, and living 'robots'), some HeroClix (the more recent sets are marginally larger than the Micro Universe or SWM figures but still work fine), and some D&D minis (the humans tend to be marginally smaller particularly with older sets but you can come up with a nice array of monstrous creatures or swarms that provide variety).

I've just picked up a copy of this week's Doctor Who Adventures (#237) and the free gift is a Weeping Angel Army - a pack of 16 Weeping Angel figures in roughly the same scale as 28mm miniatures, 8 with their hands over their faces and 8 in attacking pose. Pick 'em up while you can - the comic should be on sale until Thursday 6th!

Although if you need 16, your PCs are in trouble.

The free gift in the next issue (#238) - on sale from Thursday - is a pack of 5 Daleks, 6 Cybermen and 6 Sontarans, all reissues of the figures for these previously given away in DWA. The Daleks are the New Paradigm versions and are pretty good minis. The Sontarans are less so (and have an odd bump on top of their helmets). And the least said about the poor old Cybermen the better! Still, if anyone missed them the first time around, the Daleks at least are worth having.
By comparison, the Weeping Angels are OK, except that the attacking version has curiously stubby little arms - presumably a moulding issue.

what we also need is some "floorplans" or battlemaps to run our games in, even if they are generic maps I know there are some out there that are fantasy or some old Scifi/star Wars maps, but we need some that would be more centralized to the Doctor who game.
Using location ideas from the DWSSG game, I have been trying create some maps for mini use.

Ainsty have some lovely models! They do indeed. I've now received the Mechanoids I ordered from them and they look superb. The brass attachments (arms, aerial, etc) are in a flat sheet and need to be pressed out and attached. A bit fiddly, but it'll be worth it! Incidentally, Crooked Dice now have larger photos of painted versions of the forthcoming not-Rory and not-River on their forum: www.crooked-dice.co.uk/forum/Blah.pl?m-1321373055/s-all/These two should be available to order from 1st December.

I've been out of the UK for the past few weeks. Got back home yesterday to find that the free gift in the current issue of Doctor Who Adventures is a pack of plastic Judoon and Ood figures, to scale with the previous free figs from DWA - 8 of each if memory serves. But hurry, this issue will only be on the shelves for another day or so.
And next week's free gift is a pack of plastic Silence and Silurians figs!

Well, sort of to scale, the Ood are way too tall. Still, if the Silurians and Silence are any good those will be miniatures we never got in the short-lived Character prepainted set.

I thought that I would add that Hornby produce a 00 gauge police telephone box as part of their Skaledale model scenery range that works well with minis (I actually use paper minis but it's basically the same dealio...) The amazon.co.uk listing is here.
