According to The Christmas Invasion, with the Time Lord out of action the translation effect fails - so this could mean PCs from different times and places unable to understand each other.
And the TARDIS is hurtling towards the last thing the Time Lord wanted to get to on autopilot, and it's a rocky ride through the Vortex, with the ship tumbling as it goes. Anyone looking outside, or at the viewscreen tracking progress towards the destination, won't like what they see.
The TARDIS itself could also be rebuilding, rooms moving and altering, becoming a maze.
And has the Time Lord ever taken any prisoners? Like the Carrionites in The Shakespeare Code, or an animal-intelligence monster he was meaning to release back into the wild. They, naturally, get loose.
And... is there something banging on the front door?

Like the idea of Tardis rebuilding itself ( Rose: was'nt there a door here ) and something getting out of the brig is good too. as for the translation effect not working I forgot about that one. and as for the tardis stuck on auto pilot that is good too as for for the door maybe Cap'n Jack is hanging on to the outside of the Tardis

Excellent ideas!
In the campaign I'm planning, the players are Timelords that have mysteriously forgotten their heritage (Chameleon Arc was used to 'humanize' them). The campaign revolves around them relearning their heritage, and figuring out how and why their memories were erased. In the third session, they will have escaped into a TARDIS that is on autopilot to an unknown destination. I'd been trying to think of what all would be appropriate for the session, and thanks to this thread, I've got some great ideas to work with!
Thanks!
Matt

don't forget its a Tardis - with the potential to be truly rediculous. THINK BIG
You could have them getting lost during the reconfiguration and finding ultimate huge set of your choice "The doctor never mentioned he had a 1:1 scale model of England in the basement" "whats this garage, the manifest says it contains R102?"
Then theres always the lost in a maze routine - personally I wouldn't push being stuck in the reconfiguration too much, in the 11th hour the Tardis seemed very reticitent about letting anyone whatch while it "changed cloths" - maybe lock them in a room while it goes on and have it unlock and the players discover everythings different.
Also, perfect time for that giant mouse from the rulebooks to show up
Also, if its the Doctor...Imagine accidently activating one of the cargo holds and having 12,000 K-9s asking if the party needed help (he seemed to roll out K-9 Mk2 awfully fast after K-9Mk1 went with Lela- I think he's got a warehouse full of them)

Scream of the Shalka discusses a hanger for a Zepplin (The doctor leaves the umbrella stand) The Maze thing tends to be that the Old Girl shuffles the rooms when no ones looking. Sh seems to like it. Othe encounters: a gray Lady in the Engine Rooms (A manifestation of the TARDIS herself) The legendary "back Door" Relics of Gallifrey/ Skaro/ Mondas/ the Time War
