Will you be using action figures for plotting out combats/actions?
I have a few collected but damn it all that I missed out on the Micro Universe figures.
The Troughton figure from Forbidden Planet looks amazing but it's out of stock also...

I feel like it slows the game down... if people need to now general positions of people and things, I'll draw them a quick map. Mind you, I like the figures, and I have the TARDIS sitting on my desk at work.

I have every intention of trying to use these more as a prop, as visual aide-memoires for the players to have in front of them to signify their character ( I think I got this idea from the old Tom Hanks' movie Mazes & Monsters - but can't bring myself to watch it again to check!)

Thats what I meant too. As for Mazes and Monsters... Run. Run Far, Run Fast. Just get as far away from that movie as you can.

I have a good collection of the figures, but won't be using them for the game, too big. I will, however, possibly be using my Micro Universe collection. Depends on how well the game supports/requires it. I bought and modified a ton of the MUs when the game was announced, and just recently finished getting them ready for the game. Basically, I cut off the original bases (even the Daleks, phew), put them on smaller hex bases, touched them up with eyes, built some Dalek, Cybermen and Judoon armies, created some new ones (like Donna and a flying Dalek), all sorts of things. I also got a TARDIS that's in perfect scale to them (it was released with a Dalek Sec some time ago, can't remember who made it). Finally I created a game map of the TARDIS console room for use with the figures, took one of the MU spinners, and created a console that can sit in the center of the map (which doesn't require the 3D console). It looks really nice and prints out neatly on a single sheet of paper. Everyone is welcome to grab it and have fun with it (right-click and save, 1.7 MB jpg!): Like I said, I have no idea if they'll be of use with our games, or if they'll end up sitting in a box with all my FASA and Harlequin DW miniatures ;D Whatever happens, I'll try to get some pictures up some time in the next few weeks.

Very awesome. I have been into miniatures for a while now and am eager to get the Micro Universe minis. Actually I just bought some for my kids for Christmas. The map you made is sweet. Is this the set you got the mini Tardis from?

Yes, that's the one! I don't think it was by Character Options, so I couldn't even remember how to search for it. But as you can see, it's closer in scale to the MU figures than the MU TARDIS itself (which was way too big).

(Nine and Rose, close-up) Very nice; it would almost be a shame NOT to be able to use them in a game. Thanks for sharing.

If anyone is looking for ideas for "proxy" miniatures to use in their games, I can recommend no better starting point than the "Alternate Miniatures - Expanded" database at The Doctor Who Miniatures Game yahoo group. You have to join to access the database, but it's a great group to join anyway. games.groups.yahoo.com/group/doctorwhominiaturesgame/database

I suspect if you root around in the rights places you'll still find the Micro Universe figures for sale. I've found toys that have been discontinued for 20 years squirreled away in the back of a old toy store.

Oh yes, it's no problem finding the MU figures online - or gathering dust in the darkened corners of toy stores - at the moment, although still going for wildly varying prices.

Those photos are excellent! I, too, have a small army of MU Daleks on my desk at work. I have just one - well, several - questions...
1. Where did you get the tin from? 2. Is that an old Games Workshop Ice Warrior I see there? 3. Where did my old GW Dr Who minis go! Bought them back in the day when GW sold and made more than just Warhammer and I thought they were in the box with the FASA stuff. Unfortunately, I can't find the FASA stuff either...
Dontcha just hate moving house?

1. Where did you get the tin from? I knew someone was going to ask me this! I'm ashamed that I've almost completely forgotten what that was originally for. I believe it was a Doctor Who "After Dinner Trivia Tin" with some trivia cards (which I've misplaced) and some chocolates. I got it from Who North America a year and a half ago, but I can't seem to find a reference to it anywhere! I'll see if I can find out more (or find those cards, which would at least tell me who manufactured it). I *think* it's a GW. I've had a set of 3 Ice Warriors that I painted up back in the late 80s, carried them around forever. Actually, it may be FASA, and I think that's the same (Citadel made them, right?). Davros is also there, which is a modified Dalek from Citadel's plastic "Daleks Vs Cybermen" set. Yes I do. I've lost more than I ever had, it seems. Fortunately I've still got 18 boxes of FASA minis (3 or 4 minis each), a bag full of minis that I don't think were released in the boxes, and dozens of the Harlequin minis. Between this and the hundreds of Star Trek minis I have, I could probably start painting them all now and (at the age of 44) still not finish them before I die!

If anyone is interested in some real inspiration for painted DW miniatures, check out artwho9's DW Galleries (look for Harlequin, MU, Citadel, etc on the side).

I only have the Five Doctors set and an old Dinky Toys TARDIS from the 60's. Yes, that's Tom's Doctor stuck in a time bubble. Where are the best places that I can get Doctor Who figures to use? (Preferably somewhere in the States.) I saw one site that has most figures for like $4 each. I could do that. I'm not sure where that was though. Are these made of different metals? And if so which would be the best to get?

Have a look at this thread for suggestions of what 28mm (or thereabouts) minis are available or Doctor Who: dwaitas.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=prevs&action=display&thread=913&page=1I'm pretty sure that Black Tree have a US website as well as the UK one, so you should be able to find that with a Google search.

Thanx. Some one on the FB page pointed me towards the Black Tree one. Which is the one I remember coming across a while back. I'll check out the other thread too.

Can anyone recommend some place (USA) that has the Doctor minis for 9-11? I just ordered 6-8 from Blacktree but that is all they have.
I saw a place called Heresy but they are based in the UK and I'm not quite sure if I like the designs.

Heresy should be able to ship to the UK, fairly cheaply due to the small size of the cargo. So do Crooked Dice who do a mix of modern and classic heroes and monsters. (Personally I think the Black Tree figures are unappealing, but there you go.)

You'd think SOMEONE in the US would make usable minis though.
