Here's another scenario seed for folks gearing up for their own campaigns. Its a simple, straighforward one.
The TARDIS and crew are in central Africa for some reason... its a beautiful land, and the savannah is alive with all sorts of animals. Perhaps the crew have been there helping a local village dig a well, or distributing vaccinations or food. Or maybe they are just enjoying life.
One evening, just about sundown, there is a roar and a mighty wind that causes some small damage to the village, but nothing major. It will be a more puzzling experience than a terrifying one, although village shamans and witches may make claims about spirits. Guests from a high tech world might be able to recognize it as the exhaust of a low flying, cloaked spacecraft. Give them a chance to notice the acidic, biting smell. Its 'harmless' CO2.
There is no telling where it came down, and it simply isn't safe to go out looking on the savannah at night.
The next morning, however, the crew can go look... and make a terrible discovery... a column of 'Siafu', Driver Ants, are on the warpath and are eating everything in their path. Even some surprisingly large animals have fallen victim to it. The Village is in their path.
Going back and looking around, the crew find no less than *4* supercolonies of hungry Siafu converging on the region and seperating them from their TARDIS.
The presence of of so many ants is puzzling, but it only makes sense that it has something to do with the roaring wind the night before.
So, whats really going on? The roar was indeed a spacecraft... belonging to a shy, peaceful race called the Boone. They were on a routine survey mission over the continent when their drive malfunctioned and began dumping exhaust in the form of CO2... They landed a short distance away, out in the middle of nowhere so they can effect repairs... however, in the meantime, the 'harmless' gas escapes.
The thing about Siafu is they are attracted to CO2... normally from the exhalations of animals. CO2 means food for them, and the amount thats been dropped signals a LOT of food.
The Crew will have to try and rescue the village in various ways (flooding fields, using fire, or any other sorts of methods they can come up with.) but ultimately, they will have to track down the cloaked ship and assist the Boone in fixing the leak. The Boone have no idea what the effect of this has had on the Driver ants, and once the ship is repaired, they will help in anyway they can to help destroy or redirect the supercolonies.
See? Short and sweet. And for a change, doesn't involve alien invasions or other evil plans...
