Yeah that is very sad, may he rest in peace though he certainly played Wilfred the best and certainly will be remembered by whovians across the world, I hope he new the amount of support he has gotten for playing such an amazing character.

A true icon. And one who will be sorely missed. Just think it’s a shame he never received a knighthood.

He was a great actor and a truly kind gentleman. He gave us so many wonderful memories over the years, and will be sorely missed. RIP sir, and thank you.

From "Hole in the Ground" and "Right, said Fred", through Jackanory more times than I can remember, and the Wombles he was a huge part of my childhood. His film and TV appearances in Dr Who, The Railway Children, and Fawlty Towers among many, many others over the years kept him always there. My kids got to know him through "Old Jack's Boat" and then Dr Who (again!). He's been a bigger part of my life than some relatives!
Of the two certainties in life, we all knew this day was coming. But that doesn't mean any of us were prepared for it. I'm loving the stories that are surfacing on the web from his life and career - one from his time in the Paras in Haifa "There was a lovely glow on the horizon, sunset over the desert. Turned out the naafi was on fire". Why he never received the knighthood he so richly deserved is beyond me. From RTD's story above, I can't help wondering what his plan was for the rubber chicken.
GNU, Mr C. A man is not dead as long as his name is spoken.
