Hi, has anyone ever used the articles featured on SCP Declassified (I found it on Facebook) in their games? I've seen some interesting ideas, and was wondering if it could be a good source of material.

The SCP Foundation has a plethora of amazing articles that can work well with doctor who, it has its own version of the weeping angles (SCP 173). Thanks for suggesting this I'll go through the SCPs again (has been some time since I read them) and post some that could work well with doctor who in mind, one I can think of is (my personal favourite) SCP 1981 which is a Betamax tape of Ronald Reagan during his "evil empire" speech which after 1 minute and 10 seconds into the recording it distorts to him being cut up with wounds and extreme injuries spewing rather grim stuff within its speech as well. Plus the added bonus of a mysterious hooded figure present within it. Adapting that might be interesting for a campaign. But again thank you for suggesting I love anything SCP feels nice seeing it suggested on here!

Not specifically, though I've trawled the wiki a fair bit and dumped a few into my notes for possible use. Many of them would work well for a modern day UNIT campaign.

Oh yes, I’ve used the SCP Foundation many a time for inspiration. Even have a few of them re appropriated and written up in my notes lest my campaign ever lead to my PCs breaking into or even out of a UNIT Black Archive. I imagine unlike the monolithic and practically omnipotent Foundation, UNIT try to keep their prisoners at least fairly looked after. Just in case any representatives of their respective species should come a calling. Some I have kept very much the same such as SCP-1810 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1810 and SCP 1156 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1156 while others I have altered slightly such as the Builder Bear. I’ve reimagined as an extremely psychotic member of the same cyborg design as Panda who has no issue in using fresh material to create more of its kind. Doubt I’ll ever get the chance to use any of them but it’s good to be prepared, isn’t it?

A few of my favourite things....
Personally I rather like some of the 'anomalous' locations, such as 1309, a small US town that's been stuck in a repeating a 3,289 day time loop1 for several cycles.
Or 1652 which seems to be an echo of part of a Great War battlefield from which injured dogs, and on one occasion a human, escape.
2367 seems to be a variation on the urban legend of 'Die Glocke', an (alleged) Nazi time travel project from World War 2. It allows for various people fleeing the fall of Berlin in 1945 to be displaced forward in time. A little modification and there could be a UNIT operation to monitor/test the device, sweep up the occasional 'test subject' transferred from 1945 to whenever and prepare for Event 2367-Sigma. Complications, such as Nazi agents within UNIT or a multi-generational support network outside could complicate matters.
3838 is another anomaly, located in modern day Turkmenistan, that could be fitted into a modern day game, either UNIT or for time travellers to get stuck in. A visit to the 'Marketplace; period, extending from 1800 to 18582 would be an interesting job. If you can manage it.... Or the classic concept of a person 'out of time', whether from the past or future3, wandering out of the anomaly and causing problems. Mongols and Soviets, an expedition from von Ungern-Sternberg4 meeting one from the Ahnenerbe, Daleks from the 22nd-century investigating a temporal oddity encountering Federation scientists from the thirty-second doing the same.
Anyone else have any suggestions or favourites?
1. From 05FEB1920 to 19AUG1928.
2. Though this could be changed. Perhaps a Torchwood expedition stumbles on it?
3. Perhaps in possession of advanced technology or carrying a plague, be it biological, nanotech or memetic.
4. One of my favourite weird historical figures.

In terms of temporal anomalies, you’ve also got SCP-332 which is a marching band frozen in time from the 1970s yet occasionally becomes active. scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-332Strikes me as the sort of mystery which The Misfit Mob might stumble across. Especially if UNIT have been covering them up and they weren’t aware of it. Would make for quite the eerie sight as they wander among the frozen forms of these band members. I’ve been toying with the idea of introducing a group of villainous Nazi time travellers in my campaign for some time so SCP 2367 could make for good inspiration.

When it comes to a lot of SCPs, I think reinventing them for the Doctor Who universe would mean that some of the entries would have to take place off earth or on other planets. Here’s just a few of my favourites: • SCP 1959 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1959. A spaceman caught in the orbit of Earth, struggling against some unseen force. Could quite easily be kept as is although if the spaceman was rescued it could make for the good introduction of a PC or NPC. What’s the mystery behind him or her? • SCP 2059 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2059 An autonomous and sentient mass of flesh, bones and organs. Contains everything from a blue whale, giant squid to several dead humans. Could have just crashed to Earth years ago as a Blob type entity. Maybe it’s even an infant of the species? Frightened and who is trying to come to terms with the intricacies of the human form? • SCP 4448 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4448 Would be easy enough to reinvent as some mythical oracle/seer figure on another planet. Albeit one that demands tribute and doesn’t like repeat visits. • SCP 4671 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4671 An otherwise docile entity which resembles a clown. Perhaps he belonged to the American equivalent of the Night Travellers? • SCP 3934. scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3934 Home grown Loch Ness Monsters. Perhaps some of the locals have been growing them using DNA from the Skarasen? All to drum up tourism to the loch. If UNIT are looking after these specimens, they might be caring for them with the assistance of some of the more amiable Zygons. • SCP 1678 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1678 A possible alternate universe London reconstructed or built in response to some great catastrophe? But one that for some reason has a foothold in our reality? • SCP 026 the-scp.foundation/object/scp-026 One of the more quietly unsettling entries (Reminds me of something Aickman may have written about) An abandoned school which contains several spatial anomalies and where quite often the bodies of former students and staff can be found. Something evidently happened here in the past to cause this. At least enough to leave a mark. But what exactly was it? • SCP 1545 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1545 One of the sillier entries. No doubt this could be reinvented as something Doctor Meyer once picked up and sold off. Probably wasn’t even aware of any of the side effects. • SCP 962 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-962 A metal tower of unknown origin which creates cybernetic monstrosities from the local wildlife and appears to to worship humanity. Possibly an artificial intelligence left over from some abandoned or failed invasion in the past and whose thinking has devolved into cod philosophy and a form of religion.

Nice examples grinch.
4130 (a time displaced Santa Anna with powers) strikes me as having interesting possibilities for a scenario woth time travellers, while 4034 has possibilities for UNIT or the Mob to investigate. 4003, a small US town displaced from November 1866 to the Cretaceous Era and being excavated, and 3991, an island with variable time flows, are other suitable mysteries to confound players.

SCP 4003 strikes me as something that could have happened as a result of a weapons test. Say one particularly brilliant but diabolical engineer got ahold of a Time Scoop and was able to magnify its power to sweep up entire populations. Which explains the unfortunate fate of this town, it was merely chosen as a display of the weapons power. After all, why bother going to the time and effort to invade a planet which could result in unnecessary bloodshed when you could just shunt the population into the past leaving it completely empty for any invading force to occupy.

Hmm. An example of temporal tourism that went awry or was abandoned? Possibly from a timeline that was deleted? For some reason, however, it is still running.... Or considering how passengers can come from alternate timeline maybe it was a test into Multiversal travel/tourism that was deemed unsuccessful? (Presumably because the Multiverse is almost impossible to successfully navigate or chart)

Here are a few more SCP entries. * SCP 6415 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-6415 A depressed Lizard Man who is now the last of his kind thanks to the actions of The Foundation or in this case UNIT. Just an example of how even they can sometimes get it wrong. Whether he’s a member of an unidentifiable species who is native to Earth or a stranded alien is entirely up to you. * SCP 5000 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-5000 An alternate universe where the Foundation began indiscriminately slaughtering the human race. Be easy enough to reimagine as UNIT suddenly declaring war on the human race with the technology at their disposal from the Black Archive. Could be suitably shocking if once familiar characters as The Brigadier/Kate Stewart/Osgood suddenly become hostile and completely inhuman and turn against your PCs. Even if they’re from an alternate universe. * SCP 1098 RU scp-int.wikidot.com/scp-1098-ru A house in Russia which changes those who enter into it into puppets. * SCP 428 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-428 An intelligence which assimilates those into his hive mind. Probably doesn’t need to be changed at all. * SCP 1867 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-428 One of my favourites. A slug which claims to be Lord Theodore Thomas Blackwood. A Victorian explorer and naturalist. Be easy enough to suggest he was once a member of or affiliated with Torchwood who found himself changed and in UNIT custody almost a century later. * SCP 1471 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1471 An app which causes to hallucinate a strange canine figure. Maybe this is the work of some species or alien intelligence who is trying to communicate with our reality?

(Presumably because the Multiverse is almost impossible to successfully navigate or chart) I like the idea of a tourist device that went wrong, perhaps related to my previous ideas about 'Dark Tourism' time travellers. New York seems rather appropriate given it's history of disasters.
One of my current projects ('Kelan and the Odd People') has a modern day serial killer who stumbles on a group of such disaster tourists in a small town, due to their not-quite-right behaviour. A bit like Timescape but decidedly less cheery.
Or might the train be travelling through a temporal anomaly, once used for 'retirees' (similar to The Circle in The English Way of Death, after all where better for weird people to blend in?) but which subsequently started pulling in people from adjacent timelines.
1678 reminded me of Mondas a bit, after leaving Sol and with the survivors trying to continue.

My first thought on 4003 was the similarities to the old FASA scenario City of Gold. If you're not familiar with this it started with a visit to Venezuela in the future (twenty-first century, around 2050) to stop the Master. Only to encounter a revised timeline with a Silurian controlled planet. Then back to the Conquistador era (~1450) to encounter a brilliant Silurian temporal physicist and his solution to the 'Ape Problem'.

Yeah that does work and fits well with the story presented within the Article as well. Utilising magic or in case of doctor who really advanced science to try and make their bloodline pure again resulting in the creation of well these horrific creatures.

I like that idea of the train being used by another group akin The Circle. Presumably unlike their English equivalent to whom Percy Closed belongs to, the scheme wasn’t popular enough to be continued. That or the authorities cracked down on them. Much like the Foundation, UNIT can’t really do a lot about the train aside from cover up its existence (they like to peddle it as another urban myth) and round up the people it leaves behind. I can only imagine that it’s very low on the list of the Time Agency’s priorities. That or even they can’t track it. I could even see it being used as a means for some temporal fugitives or refugees to escape their timeline. A last resort if you will.

Utilising magic or in case of doctor who really advanced science to try and make their bloodline pure again resulting in the creation of well these horrific creatures. Replace the follower of Sarkicism with a rogue geneticist who is active in the era and you can practically leave them unchanged. You could even infer that certain authorities in Austria are aware of the creatures but prefer to keep their existence hidden. It’s their burden or rather National shame but there’s not a lot they can do about them considering none of them knows where all the Hives are located. Kate Stewart or a particularly canny member of UNIT might even be able to persuade said authorities to assist UNIT with the knowledge that they’re aware of the fact they are aware. You know, I might add the Hapsburg Mutants to my long list of things to stat. Not sure it would be appropriate to post on the boards, however, considering the rather graphic nature of these SCPs and their modus operandi.

SCP 2884 scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-2884 Weird anomalous CCTV cameras that appear across the UK including humanoid police officers with CCTV cameras on their heads. Reading it gives off a big brother vibe to it such as strange laws and the Overseer being mentioned. Might be cool to see worked into doctor who somehow.

A paranoid psychic’s fears regarding a surveillance state made manifest, perhaps? Or possibly a group of psychics hence their sphere of influence encompassing the entire British Isles?

Potentially, a conspiracy theorist psychic's manifestation out and about in the UK arresting folks for dumb laws and such is certainly interesting. Government experiment into new security gone wrong perhaps as well. Or just Aliens with weird laws coming to enforce them onto Earth.

Ah, the Hapsburgs, lots of weirdness there. Maybe someone was trying to 'fix' their various genetic problems and it went a bit awry?
Yeah that does work and fits well with the story presented within the Article as well. Utilising magic or in case of doctor who really advanced science to try and make their bloodline pure again resulting in the creation of well these horrific creatures. And it's a classic, Classic Who, theme.

I like the idea of a tourist device that went wrong, perhaps related to my previous ideas about 'Dark Tourism' time travellers.
Well with the Time Agency there could be a risk of paradox; the New York anomaly could be part of the research/inspiration/background that leads to the formation of the Agency. A little idea that I'm planning to use soon in our campaign....
As one early (so to speak) time trraveller said "You can't regulate me! I'm what has to happen before you have anything to regulate".

A case for the Misfit Mob. It has a certain Laundry-verse vibe to my mind.
Actually, reading the 'transcripts' in the SCP write-up maybe it's time to bring out the renegade K’varrans again, it sounds like one of their weird experiments/projects.

That’s the problem when it comes to organisations/agencies whose practises include the monitoring of alterations to time. They’re generally not immune to the same changes to time that they’re fiercely opposed against.

Are the K’varrans an original creation of yours Catsmate?
