I've only gone and done it, pulled the trigger on my first campaign framework using the Doctor Who RPG. heropresstwo.blogspot.com/2022/03/pre-production-work-commences-on-doctor.htmlMy group has shown a preference for focusing on a new Time Lord in a Doctorless reality, which should be fun. We're deeply mired in a weird science/ Hollow Earth Expedition ongoing campaign at the moment ( using a different system... although there is some time travel!), which means there's no pressure on me to deliver on a tight deadline ( although I am wondering if this year's Doctor Who Day in November might be a good target).

Ah, campaign design, always interesting.
OK, well you seems to have decided some of the big questions: you're mobile (rather than Earthbound or tethered) in scope, and you have an actual Time Lord and TARDIS.
- Will your Time Lord be a PC or NPC?
- It's probably too early for character creation but will your PCs be an existing group, plucked from the same period, or a group of random strangers from across space and time?
- What about the TARDIS? Will it be appearing as a character (voice or holographic avatar for example)? Is it properly steerable? Does it have any special peculiarities (Ah, the Type 65 'Secure Recon' model? )
I have two Who campaigns on the go, separate in general but the characters do interact. Neither uses the 'Time Lord and TARDIS' setup.

I wanted to go with the classic "Time Lord + TRADIS" set-up for familiarity of concept coupled with the infinite scenario possibilities. The Time Lord will be a PC, but every regeneration shifts to a new player (provided the campaign finds its legs, of course). As to the exact details of the TARDIS though, you've given me some good pointers that I hadn't considered.

I agree the Time Lord/Companions/TARDIS schema does work well for those relatively new to Who.
The old FASA game had a few quirky TARDIS models: the Type 65 with it's SID (Security IDentifier) and various security systems (a trifle prone to malfunctions and external interference) and the Model 51 with a nearly sentient computer system, prone alas to alarming shifts in personality. These could be amusing complications.
