The Second Edition - are you using it instead of the first edition ?

At this moment, I'm not playing Doctor Who. Hopefully, I'll be joining a play by post game in the near future.

I'm not playing any Doctor Who at the moment, but I won't be moving to the second edition, and I don't care for the ideas in the new experience system. I quite prefer the "it makes sense that you would have improved that, so have an extra level" system. Doctor Who isn't a game where the players should be monitoring their character sheets, hoping to make the numbers bigger.

I, too, don't have a game at present and am waiting for the print edition of the second edition (rather than faffing about with PDFs - I'm too old for all that) before I decide which iteration I shall opt for.

Sticking with 1e (but mining 2e for anything we decide could enhance our campaign).

I’m a First Edition man myself. And I have no desire to change that anytime soon.

Over the holiday I really tried to give 2nd edition a fair chance, but it is still coming up 2nd place for me. I'm probably going to stick to 1st when we start our DW game in the spring and as others have said just mine 2nd for a few good ideas. I think the redo of the chase rules are a subtle difference, but a bit of an improvement. I like the idea of conditions as an on-going consequence of an attribute going to zero. And I'm still thinking about the experience rules, not sure if I like them better than the ones from the Primeval Game.

Right now I've no need to convert anything across. 2nd edition feels like change for the sake of change. Much prefer story-driven XP rather than "you killed the monster and looted the body, have 137XP".

I'm currently using 1st Edition, and will no doubt buy 2nd edition and then see how much it differs and discuss with my players to see if they want to change. This is because everyone else has to literally buy in to the new version.
