And what a good news it is! When they had the license of Warhammer i tought that we should never have anything new about Doctor Who before a very long time, if never again. I wonder what are the changes in the Vortex system they're talking about...

I actually like the cover, one of the better ones.
I assume the system updates will be integrating all the games that've used versions of the Vortex system (Rocket Age, Primeval, Pulp Fantastic) into one more consistent whole.

I'm really encouraged by the news that the old sourcebooks will be compatible with the 2nd edition rules. It sounds more like a streamlined version rather than a complete overhaul.

Perhaps I’m just not remembering it but is the bat creature in the back an original alien or is it something from the series?

Regarding the Second Edition itself, I hope they will keep the Good and Bad Traits - IIRC, it was rumored a few months ago that they would dump them (a really Bad Idea if you ask me). Anyway it's great to see renewed interest for the game from C7!

I rather doubt it. Pulp Fantastic was a third-party game. Rocket Age was C7 but is now a third-party game. Primeval was short-lived, three books years ago. I can't imagine C7 has any interest in revisiting any of them even to see what any differences were.

That is an amazing looking book! (sigh) It does indeed look very nice. However I'm not buying anything with any mention of timeless children or anything that happened at the end of Season 12 in it. I wonder if the folks at Cubicle 7 are a wee bit annoyed that they've brought out this lovely-looking book at around the same time that Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker announced they're quitting.

Someone pointed out a lovely thing about The Master. He lies. He lies all the time to get what he wants. I'm choosing to take the whole Timeless Child thing as a massive fairy story spun by The Master. The book looks good, graphically it's great but simonf you're right, Who is going to get a new Doctor and a new Showrunner (JMS?) shortly and with that will come another visual identity and branding overhaul. I've preordered it, am enjoying the PDF and the Einstein Engine freebie, but that postage cost is a stinger!

Every time the fans didn't like one of his choices and tried to get him to say it wasn't what it appeared to be, he denied it and said it was exactly as it appeared to be... and then it was proven to be so later. Chibnall doesn't do the bait and switch that Moffat did. So no, when Chibnall shows the Doctor to be a mystical, extradimensional superbeing instead of a renegade Time Lord, he means it.

You're right, he's stuck to his ideas no matter what everyone else has said. Though much as I hated RTD's use of the big reset button, I find myself missing it now. How things change. Still! Looking on the bright side, I do wonder what a new Doctor and a new Showrunner will bring. I've always said my favourite Doctor is the next one.

Are we even sure there will be a new Doctor? Considering the falling ratings of the show and how (regardless of the frantic PR damage control) the current show runner has alienated a good proportion of its fan base, I think the question is a viable one... Anyone got any info about the future of the show?

Considering the falling ratings of the show and how (regardless of the frantic PR damage control) the current show runner has alienated a good proportion of its fan base, I think the question is a viable one... Anyone got any info about the future of the show? There were rumours I saw going around on Reddit that Sally Wainwright was being approached as a potential showrunner. Also, J. Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame apparently contacted the BBC offering his services and was told that they're going through an internal process and will reach out to him if that doesn't work out. I don't think we'll hear who the new Doctor is until the new showrunner is chosen, but it doesn't sound like the show is in any danger of cancellation yet. Personally, I think there's real potential to reinvigorate the show if they choose the right people. They just need to create a good jumping-on point for new fans to join and old fans to return. One that's more Doctor Who than season 11, but less controversial than season 12. They also need to get a bit more consistent with the look and feel of the show. At the moment they've got this light hearted, quirky Doctor, with a TARDIS that looks like the inside of a volcano, and a title sequence and theme-tune filled with darkness and dread. They need to just pick a tone and stick with it.
