This is the scenario I'm probably going to run as soon as I get my copy of the game:
In the year 1902 an alien race attempted to take control of planet earth by infiltrating the government of the United States. The plot was foiled by none other than the President of the US Theodore Roosevelt, though he admitted that he only survived through the help of a mysterious figure he called "The Doctor". In the wake of the invasion, Roosevelt established a secret government department charged with protecting America from further alien threats and with assisting the Doctor should he ever appear again. In honor of his benefactor's odd mode of transportation, Roosevelt gave this new organization the code name Project Bluebox.
Fast-forward to the year 2010. The existence of aliens is common knowledge ever since the Dalek invasion. But Project Bluebox remains a secret, hidden so deeply within the US government that they have been forgotten by all except their own members. Blue Leader - the head of the project - is now answerable only to the President himself.
In the past six months, alien activity across the world has increased at a dangerous pace, and the project is left struggling to keep up. Something huge is on the horizon, a calamity of literally earth-shattering proportions. With Torchwood in Britain apparently disbanded and no sign of the Doctor, it falls to the brave men and women of Project Bluebox to defend the earth.

While I like the idea, I think a less obvious name might be better. Blue Light or even Blue Book, might be better. Blue Book, of course, ties into the USAF investigation of UFOs in the 1950 and 60s.

I like this - unlike Torchwood, which was founded against the Doctor (or any alien). Bluebox is founded for the Doctor.
Although it may mean that the Project might be more prone to regard other Time Lords as enemies.

This is an interesting idea. I know a lot of people who have wanted an American version of Torchwood.

Well part of the idea was that "Blue Book" was a misunderstanding of the real name by someone somewhere along the way.

I remembered what this reminded me of: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_boxA classic piece of hacking hardware, for phone phreaking. A common event in conspiracy theories and associated television shows about secret US government organisations that deal with aliens is the first spate of saucer sightings in 1947, and of course the Roswell crash, which is usually where they start. It could be a big thing for the Project. And then there's Area 51. (These could be the Tzun of David A McIntee's NAs and MAs, if you're a novels man.)

I'm curious if you ever managed to do anything with this idea. I may lift it and alter it somewhat if you don't mind.

I have been running but it's been sporadic as I have trouble getting the players together. Currently we're holding off until the UNIT book comes out with the firefight rules.
The episodes we've had so far:
"A Hole In Time" - A trio of Timelords find a hole in the time lock (See "The End of Time") and manage to ride it out of the Time War. But a Dalek scout ship carrying a Skaro Degradation (a hideous, brain-melting mutation of a Kaled) comes with them. The Time Lords are found by Bluebox personnel and together they manage to destroy the Degradation. With the Eye of Harmony on Galifrey gone, the Time Lords are stuck on Earth and agree to stick with Bluebox for now.
"The Devil's Lair" - Mysterious disappearances in the New Jersey pine barrens lead the crew to a small town where a pair of hikers have vanished. They find a research facility in the middle of the barrens run by the mysterious Midnight Corporation and guarded by men with guns. Later when they return under cover of darkness, they find the guards and scientists missing. A network of tunnels opens up under the facility, where the group fights devilish monsters, eventually encountering the source, a Hyborian Taproot - an alien plant that creates homonculi to secure its prey. They manage to burn the root and escape with their lives.
"Close Encounters" - The team investigates reports of mysterous lights over a small town in Washington state. They find a perfectly normal town but can't help feeling something is wrong. Finally it dawns on them. There are no children. Investigating the disappearance runs them up against the local police and the entire rest of the town, who insist nothing is wrong and try with increasing firmness to make them leave. They are about to do just that, when they witness the entire town assembling in the town square. Lights appear in the sky as ships hover overhead. The town leaders explain that their children were actually aliens fostered on earth to protect them from a war on their homeworld. The parents now feel that earth is more dangerous because "Night is falling over this world" and came to retrieve them. In repayment for their kindness, the aliens take the townsfolk who cared for their young as well. The team is left in an empty town with a feeling that worse days are just around the corner.
"Tin Soldiers" - Blue leader has received a special request that the three Time Lords pay a visit to Area 51 to examine their latest acquisition. The rest of the team accompanies them. Upon arrival, however, they find communication has been lost from the underground bunker where the specimens were held. Trying to reestablish communication, they hear the voices of a pair of Daleks demanding release. After some brief confusion about what a Dalek is (see: most of the 2010 season of Doctor Who), the Time Lords convince the humans of the danger they are in and lead an expedition below to deal with it. One Dalek is destroyed with an improvised explosive device, but the other takes a good portion of the crew hostage and makes them escort it to its ship. This is the same scout ship that followed the Time Lords from the war. It was scattered in time and wound up here. The ship is inoperable and the Dalek demands that the Time Lords fix it so it can escape from earth. It knows something terrible is coming and it wants to be gone when it gets here. The Time Lords try to buy time while nervous people in Washington order hammer down (Read: nuke it) on the entire facility, giving them a narrow window before detonation. Shipping their TARDIS to Area 51 the Time Lords hook its power supply to the Dalek ship, but at the last moment, one of them reverses the flow of energy, powering up the TARDIS and blasting the Dalek to bits with its weapons. There is not much time to savor victory as the nukes are inbound. The team pile into the now-powered TARDIS and escape just in the nick of time. But something feels wrong in the chronometric circuits....
Next episode (when I get around to it) will take them to a devastate future earth, showing them the consequences if they fail to defeat the as-yet unidentified big threat of this season. Then back to the present for another few stories leading up to the climax.

Does anyone besides me really want to know what Project Blue Box thinks of the events of The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon?

Sadly the Project Bluebox campaign ended prematurely before those episodes aired (I moved to the other side of the country from my group). As for where Bluebox fits in those events: Who do you think was hunting down the companions and building that prison in "Day of the Moon"?
