It's and interesting postulate, which is theoretically valid in most of the current models of the universe. Interestingly it could be induced artificially by controlled energy input into a star in the process of collapsing (or otherwise manipulating the rate of introduction of vacuum energy) so as the 'suspend' the collapse of the star.
